Initiation of a Legacy

Established in the year 2009, with an initial batch of 60 students, Parul Institute of Physiotherapy is today regarded as the BEST PHYSIOTHERAPY COLLEGE IN GUJARAT. In 2015, after the establishment of Parul University by Govt. of Gujarat under Private University Act 2009, the college has been a constituent college of Faculty of Physiotherapy at Parul University. It has been several diligent years of witnessing out of the box creativity, exceptional growth, and rewarding success of students and faculties.

The institute aims towards the goal of distinguishing itself qualitatively and quantitatively in terms of faculty, student body and infrastructure in terms of modern equipment, library and learning spaces. It has flexible, technology-rich learning spaces necessary to seed and sustain digital innovation. The institute not only harnesses the youth’s capabilities by honing their skills and providing global standards of education but also equips them with world-class infrastructure.

A Vibrant Campus

The institute is resourced with modernized infrastructure. The classrooms are well- ventilated and spacious providing enough room for learning and moving with no hitch of congestion or claustrophobia. For enhancement of audio-visual learning, LCD projectors are an inseparable part of every learning space in college. There are seminar halls, library and well configured picturesque labs with modern physiotherapy apparatus and colourful charts for the visual teaching.

Parul Institute of Physiotherapy is having parent 650 bedded Parul Sevashram Hospital and also has MOUs with 12 well-reputed hospitals in and around Vadodara. This helps them provide wide clinical exposure to the students. From Ayurveda to Homoeopathy, all medical and paramedical facilities and OPDs are available in Parul Sevashram hospital, so along with medical and paramedical, students get to learn about allied medical fields also. Physiotherapy departments of Ayurveda and Homeopathy hospitals are NABH affiliated.

Modern Curriculum

The Institute is affiliated with Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) and Gujarat State Council For Physiotherapy (GSCPT). The college is approved by Government of Gujarat and is a constituent college of Parul University under University Grants Commission (UGC) Act.

Parul Institute of Physiotherapy offers Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), Masters of Physiotherapy (MPT) and PhD in Physiotherapy. For career competency, under Continuing Education Programmes(CEP) and Executive development programmes (EDP) the college furnishes with various certificate courses.

Efforts of faculties are always targeted for extensive practical exposure to the students. For competency in community health monthly academic field trips or community visits are organized to various renowned rehabilitation centres. Experts from various fields such as social work, NGOs, celebrated personalities from the field of physiotherapy and book authors are invited for expert talks or guest lectures at regular intervals. An annual national conference, Physio Summit is organized, which provides a fresh perspective and innovative solutions and evidence-based clinical research exposure.

Under the able guidance of dynamic visionary President Dr. Devanshu Patel, and a strong-minded Trustee Dr. Komal Patel, Parul Institute of Physiotherapy, is oriented towards promoting growth in quality education and health services.

Dr. Komal Patel serves as Member of the Governing Body in the University and Director. She had been the recipient of Gold Medal for her exceptional performance in MBBS. She has also completed her post-graduate studies in Gynecology and Obstetrics. She oversees smooth functioning of the institute and is actively involved in establishing and developing Physiotherapy departments in Parul Sevashram Hospital.

Under her dynamic leadership, hospitals attached to constituent institutes of Parul University have been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare (NABH). Parul University is the first educational campus in the State of Gujarat whose attached hospitals have earned this distinction.

Dr. Komal Patel firmly believes academics alone cannot prepare graduates of the medical and paramedical field unless their studies are adequately compensated by research and practical exposure. Her proactive involvement in promoting research activities has also led to many teachers in Ayurveda, homoeopathy, nursing, physiotherapy and pharmacy institutes to pursue PhD studies.

She believes quality education complemented by the inculcation of values such as passion to excel in one’s field, compassion for poor and needy, care for the fellow human beings and optimism in the face of adversities will help budding professional medical practitioners succeed in their educational and professional endeavours.

She is aptly supported by the faculty members, who are experts in their fields, and regularly undertake inspiring and innovative research. These initiatives directly reflect in the teaching, bringing real-world experience to the students, and a tangible benefit to communities and students.

Global Opportunities

Parul University has collaborations with approximately 140 Universities across the globe. Through its Erasmus program, it gives the golden opportunity to the students to study abroad for a more rounded global educational experience. Students have been to Canada, Poland, Lithuania and various developed nations of the European Union as well. It’s a mandate for all interns of the college to undertake a research project, this endeavour orients them to the concept of research and evidence-based practice.

The institute also has strong partnerships with renowned hospitals and institutes that add depth to existing courses, enabling the alignment of its strengths with the needs of industry, and making its courses more placement oriented. An annual career fair is organized where various hospitals, physiotherapy set-ups and gyms are catered for placement of the graduating students. In the year 2019, more than a hundred students secured jobs through this career fair.

Parul Institute of Physiotherapy has been updating the syllabus to cater to the current requirement of the physiotherapy field, keeping the global scenario in interest. Advanced equipment such as Balance Master, hydrotherapy equipments are installed in the institute and advance gait and motion lab will be setup soon. Institute has started devloping first ever physiotherapy museum and research lab. Efforts are being undertaken currently involving bilateral and multilateral relationships and collaborations within and across various sports complex and institute to bring to the table a more holistic learning and teaching experience.
