Now that the mail’s come and gone
— left me penniless, raised my debt —

I’m going to put tomorrow aside
and wait till tomorrow to dread it.

Do not mistake this for happiness
or even contentment —

there’s plenty to dread today,
and I shall do so. But tomorrow

promises it will wait
to see if I meet it after today,

and as I am yet unsure of that,
I can wait as well.
