Avast: Avast! Free Antivirus has released version 12.2.2276. Updates are available on Avast’s website.
Avira Free Antivirus: Avira has released version 15.0.18.354 of its free Antivirus. Updates are available from Avira’s website.
LastPass: LastPass has patched a vulnerability in its Firefox add-on, version 4.1.21a. LastPass will push an update to the browser with the patched version. The patch is also available on LastPass’ website.
Skype: Skype has released Skype 7.26.0.101. Updates are available from the program or Skype’s website.

Dropbox 6.4.14 [Citadel warns against relying on security of Dropbox or other cloud-based file exchange systems. Java SE 8 Update 101 [Citadel recommends removing or disabling Java from your browser. Java is a major source of cyber criminal exploits. It is not needed for most internet browsing. If you have a particular web site that requires Java, Citadel recommends using a two-browser approach to minimize risk. If you normally browse the Web with Firefox, for example, disable the Java plugin in Firefox and use an alternative browser — such as Chrome, IE9, Safari, etc — with Java enabled to browse only the sites that require it.]
QuickTime 7.7.9 [Citadel recommends removing QuickTime. On April 14, US-CERT advised Microsoft Windows users to remove QuickTime. This followed a report in ars technicathat Apple has no plans to update the Windows app despite at least two reliable QuickTime vulnerabilities that threaten Windows users who still have the program installed.]

Cisco Multiple Products: Cisco reports patched vulnerabilities in its Cisco Nexus 1000v AVS versions prior to 5.2(1)SV3(1.5i) and prior to 5.2(1)SV3(1.6), and Prime Service Catalog version 11.0. Apply updates. Cisco also reports unpatched vulnerabilities in its Cisco AsyncOS for Cisco ESA, Videoscape Session Resource Manager (VSRM), Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) versions 7.4(121.0) and 8.0(0.30220.385), and FireSIGHT System Software versions 5.3.0, 5.3.1, 5.4.0, 6.0, and 6.0.1. McAfee Web Gateway: McAfee has released updates for its Web Gateway to fix vulnerabilities. Update to version 7.5.2.9 or 7.6.2.1. Additional Information is available at McAfee’s website.

Vulnerability management is a key element of cyber security management. Cyber criminals take over user computers by writing computer programs that “exploit” vulnerabilities in operating systems (Windows, Apple OS, etc) and applicationprograms (Adobe Acrobat, Office, Flash, Java, etc). When software companies find a vulnerability, they usually issue an update patch to fix the code running in their customer’s computers.
