Kansas Set to Carry On This Fall with 40th Anniversary “Leftoverture” Tour

Credit: Marti GriffinThis October will mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Kansas' breakthrough album, Leftoverture, which features the group's enduring tune "Carry On Wayward Son." In celebration of the milestone, the prog-rock band has lined up a special fall tour that will feature, for the first time ever, Kansas performing the entire album live.

The trek is scheduled to kick off on September 30 in Pittsburgh, and currently is plotted out through a November 18 performance in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Sixteen dates have been announced so far, but more dates will be added. Tickets for the 40th Anniversary Leftoverture concerts go on sale to the general public this Friday, April 22. For additional information, visit KansasBand.com.

The special shows also will include a selection of other tunes from the band's back catalog, as well as some songs from Kansas' forthcoming studio album, The Prelude Implicit. The record is due out this September.

"These definitely will not be your typical Kansas concerts of the past few years," says founding guitarist Richard Williams. "This is incredibly exciting for the entire band, and hopefully our fans. It's something we've never done before, play an album in its entirety, as part of a set."

Released in October 1976, Leftoverture peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart and has gone on to sell more than 5 million copies in the U.S. alone.

Leading up to the anniversary trek, Kansas has more than 40 other shows scheduled throughout the U.S., spanning from a concert this Thursday in Wabash, Indiana, through a September 2 gig in San Antonio.
