In 2016 Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (red palm weevil) was found in the UK since then in an effort to contain this nasty pest which decimates some types of palm trees there is as of 2018 a 2 year ban on imports. This will obviously have an impact on greeenry hire companies as stocks fall due to the high failure rate of plants and trees in a hired environment.

So if you are planning a themed event involving palm trees book your supplier ASAP.

The red palm weevil is established throughout Europe including in France, Greece, Italy and Spain. So far it is not though to be present/established in the UK, hence the 2 year import ban.
