Made up of just 18 homes, Oak Hill is a community within the highly coveted 77024 zip code. The neighborhood is just outside Loop 610, south of Interstate 10.

Oak Hill Houston Maps And Location

The small community of Oak Hill covers an 8-acre area in the Memorial Close-In area. It sits north of Memorial Drive, west of Silber Road, and south of Katy Freeway (I-10). The area is just outside the Inner Loop.

Oak Hill features 18 single-family homes and is made up of two cul-de-sacs. Three homes in the area front Memorial Drive.

Other close-in Memorial neighborhoods nearby include Bayou Woods, Sherwood Forest, and Stablewood. Thanks to Oak Hill’s location near main roads (I-10, Memorial Drive, and Loop 610), residents have easy access to key Houston districts. Downtown Houston is about 6 miles away from Oak Hill.

Uptown Houston (also known as the Galleria area) is just a couple of miles away. The district is one of Houston’s main employment hubs, and is home to more than 55,000 workers and over 2,000 businesses.

The Galleria, one of the retail centers within the district, is one of the largest in Texas. It features more than 2,000,000 square feet of leasable space (Uptown Houston has 5,000,000 square feet of retail space total).

Other retail centers are also easily accessible from Oak Hill homes, including Uptown Park, Highland Village, and the River Oaks District.

For outdoor entertainment, residents can take a short drive to Memorial Park. The park is one of Houston’s largest urban parks, covering a 1,400-acre area within the Inner Loop.

Oak Hill Houston Schools

Oak Hill homes are zoned to schools from the highly regarded Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD).

Spring Branch ISD is known for its multi-award winning schools, most of which have been named National Blue Ribbon School. Headquartered in Hedwig Village, the SBISD received a “Met Standard” accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency in 2016.

National Blue Ribbon Schools Hunters Creek Elementary School, Spring Branch Middle School, and Memorial High School all serve Oak Hill homes.

Elementary Schools

  • Hunters Creek Elementary School at 10650 Beinhorn Rd. Multi-award winning school Hunters Creek Elementary was named National Blue Ribbon School (1993-94). The school offers a variety of academic programs, including English as a Second Language (ESL), Gifted & Talented (GT), Fine Arts, and Health & Fitness, among others.

Middle Schools

  • Spring Branch Middle School at 1000 Piney Point Rd. Located in nearby Hedwig Village, Spring Branch Middle School is also one of the SBISD’s multi-award winning schools. It has been named a TEA Recognized Campus (2008-2010), a National Blue Ribbon School (1997-98), and a TBEC Honor Roll School (2008).

High Schools

  • Memorial High School at 935 Echo Ln. Memorial High School is the oldest high school within the SBISD, having opened its doors in 1962. Known for its academic excellence, the school has been named a National Blue Ribbon School (1988-1989), an Honor Roll School, and a High Performing School (2008 and 2009). Its awards include the TAKS Gold Performance Award (2012) and the College Readiness Award (2008 and 2010).

Oak Hill is made up of single-family homes on large lots. Most were built during the 1950s and 1960s, featuring traditional one-story designs.

An average home in Oak Hill can feature 3- to 4-bedroom floor plans with 3 full bath, spread over 3,000 to 4,000 square feet of living space. Median lot size is at around 14,000 square feet (large by Houston standards).

Oak Hill homes are prized for their sprawling wooded lots. Some properties are tucked within cul-de-sacs, with spacious living spaces, formal dining areas, game rooms, sun rooms, and swimming pools. Most homes in the community have been updated and feature luxury amenities like granite countertops, covered patios, and upscale appliances.

Pricing for Oak Hill homes range from $700,000 to more than $1,400,000.

Oak Hill Townhomes Sale Trends

There are no Oak Hill townhomes for sale. There are, however, some options available in nearby Bayou Woods, including Bayou Woods Townhome Condominiums and Chatsworth Place Townhomes. Other nearby neighborhoods with more townhome options include Briar Hollow, Camp Logan, and the Galleria.

Oak Hill Houston History

Like most areas in close-in Memorial, the land where Oak Hill now sits used to be largely rural. The Memorial area was mostly made up of farms, timber mills, and stables.

During the post-WWII years (1950s and 1960s), Houston was growing, expanding westward past the Inner Loop. The lush areas surrounding the Buffalo Bayou was ripe for development, and several builders bought up land in the area.

Later, some Memorial neighborhoods incorporated into independent cities, particularly the Memorial Villages. Others didn’t, and were annexed by the city of Houston.

Today, close-in Memorial remains one of the most affluent and expensive areas in
