Celebrate Our Healthcare Workers: Ideas for National Nurses Week 2020

National Nurses Week is May 6-12, so it’s time to start thinking about ways to give back to the nurses in our hometowns who care for us day after day. And since many nurses are working extended hours and sacrificing their own health to care for COVID-19 patients, now more than ever they are in need of our thanks and gratitude.

But sometimes, a simple “Thank you” doesn’t feel like an adequate expression of gratitude for the people who work tirelessly to ensure our communities are safe and healthy. So, if you’re looking to spread some extra love and support to Healthcare Workers during these uncertain times, here are some gift ideas that may make them feel that working those long, unbearable hours are appreciated.

“Thank You” Sign for Essential Healthcare Workers

Many people are off work or working from home nowadays—but for healthcare workers, it’s a different story. They’re working the same, if not more, hours, and are undoubtedly in need of a pick-me-up as they drive to work early in the morning or late at night when everyone else is still tucked in bed. Place this “Thank You Healthcare Heroes” sign in your front yard to make them smile as they head out for a day’s work!

Essential Personal Protection Supplies

Since nurses are working at the center of this public health battle as they care for COVID-19 patients up close, they need proper protection more than most of us. However, a lot of the necessary Personal Protection Supplies are often sold out (such as face masks and hand sanitizers), so even nurses are having a hard time getting their hands on them.

We are fortunate to work with some incredible factories that continue meeting our customer’s demands amidst this crisis, so we often have plenty of hard-to-find items stocked and ready to roll out.

Perhaps the most important item we offer for personal protection from COVID-19 is our KN95 Respirator Face Mask. These masks are FDA registered and are a comparable alternative to the N95 mask. Each is designed with four layers of protection that filter bacteria and offer optimal protection for all-day wear—so nurses will have no issues with comfort while wearing them for the entirety of their long shifts. They’re also individually wrapped for maximum cleanliness and easy distribution. We also offer these 3-Ply Disposable Face Masks, which are designed to filter 95% of airborne bacteria.

It’s common for nurses to wash their hands multiple times during their shift—the Centers for Disease Control reports that some nurses even wash their hands up to 100 times per shift. It’s no wonder many of them have really dry skin!

It turns out that alcohol-based hand sanitizers irritate the skin less than using soap and water constantly—so you may want to consider gifting them to the nurses in your community. One of our favorites is this Hand Sanitizer w/Pump—it’s formulated with 62% ethyl alcohol, can kill 99.9% of germs, and meets FDA requirements. We also love this Mini 2 oz. Hand Sanitizer because it’s easy to tote along when you don’t have access to soap and water, and kills 99.9% of germs as well. Both sanitizers can be imprinted with your company’s logo.

Lunch Bags & Water Bottles

Nurses need plenty of food, snacks, and water to stay fueled during the long shifts they spend on their feet. Show them you care about their health and wellbeing by gifting them a lunch bag or water bottle. This Color Band Lunch Bag is the perfect size for a meal and a few snacks. Plus, its insulated design ensures food will stay fresh for an entire shift, whether its 8 or 12 hours long.

But if you want to really treat them, gift them a Trendy Sectional Backpack Set. Not only does this set come with a roomy roll and clip top lunch bag, but it also includes a plastic knife and fork, a handy food container, and a 24 oz. infuser water bottle. This set will make packing their lunch (or dinner) so painless—everything is dishwasher safe too, so they won’t have to worry about hand-washing dishes when they finally get home. On top of that, this backpack offers up a large imprint area you can embellish with your company’s logo (if you’re gifting it to an employee or co-worker), or an inspirational message to show you appreciate the nurses as they save lives and keep people healthy.

Nurses expend a lot of energy shuffling between patients for hours on end, so they need to stay hydrated—and this 20 oz. Water Bottle is perfect for helping them stay on top of their water intake. Its push/pull cap makes it easy to grab a quick drink between caring for patients, and its BPA-free plastic design is ideal. Another favorite of ours is this 27 oz. Poly-Pure Transparent Bottle. Its contoured design fits perfectly into most cupholders, and its push/pull cap is incredibly convenient for grabbing a quick sip. Plus, its 27 oz. capacity helps avoid needing lots of refills. Both of these bottles can be customized with your company’s logo. These water bottles are a thoughtful gift that expresses your appreciation for your colleagues, employees, or even your clients who are nurses.

Coffee Mugs and To-Go Tumblers

There’s nothing like a good cuppa’ joe to get you going, and nurses need all the energy they can get right now. Help a nurse stay caffeinated with this Metallic Stripe Mug. Its 16 oz. capacity holds plenty of coffee to get their day started, and the bold metallic stripe is super eye-catching.

If the nurse you know prefers their coffee to go, gift them this sturdy Otterbox® Elevation® Stainless Steel Tumbler. It’s made from durable stainless steel and has a copper lining that keeps drinks hot or cold for hours on end. Plus, it’s sweat-resistant, so it won’t leave a water ring on any surfaces!

Nurses would also love this Urban Peak® Canyon Trail Vacuum Tumbler, which holds an immense 34 oz. of any hot or cold drink and keeps beverages at their optimal drinking temperature thanks to its vacuum insulated liner. Plus, its spill-proof closed lid ensures a mess-free commute!

A Few Treats for Their Days Off…

The COVID-19 pandemic is requiring nurses to work harder and longer, so it’s no doubt they look forward to making the most of their days off. As since summer is quickly approaching and the weather is warming up, encourage a little relaxing with this Vino2Go® BPA-Free Wine Tumbler—aka the perfect backyard-partner! It has a snap-on lid with a thumb-slide opening, plus double-wall insulation to keep beverages chilled at a refreshing temperature.

And while we’re on the subject of refreshing beverages, let’s talk about this 4-pc. Round Bamboo Coaster Set that’s great for holding drinks while relaxing on your deck or gathering around the dinner table. Oh, and what’s for dessert? How about these mouth-watering chocolate covered pretzels or this tower (yes, tower) of delicious sweets like caramel popcorn, English Butter Toffee, and Lindt® Truffles? Yes, please.

No matter what you choose, be sure to GIVE BACK to the nurses and medical staff who give so much. These are great ways to show your appreciation, or check out the full collection here.
