U.S. Republican presidential candidate John Kasich maintains tha the GOP race is headed for a contested convention and says, if that were to happen, history is in his favor.
Speaking at a town hall in Burlington, Wisconsin, Kasich said neither rivals Donald Trump or Ted Cruz would get the 1,237 Delegates needed to secure the party nomination.
“Republicans have had 10 conventions that have been contested. Of the 10 contested conventions, the person who went with the strongest number of delegates was picked three out of 10 times,” Kasich said.
Wisconsin holds its nominating contest on April 5th. Polls show Trump trailing Cruz.
The winner will get to claim all of Wisconsin’s 42 delegates.
