Engineer-Design (Core Components)

JOB PURPOSE: Design and development of Core Engine systems and components for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

In this position you will be closely working with Senior engineers / Engineering specialists and execute Design and development activities of Core Engine Components (Rotating Components, Structures and Cylinder Pack). Flexibility to work on multiple components.
Should be able to handle new product introduction as well as current product improvement projects.
Work with customers, Process partners, SMEs to understand and document the requirements – Develop a project plan and manage.
Should be able to independently work on engineering actives from concept to production in component / system development projects. Liaise with cross functional teams as required.
Independently work on engineering activities in implementing engineering solutions in Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects. (includes liaising with manufacturing and assembly facilities)
Manage multiple projects and communicate results (Achievement towards cost / quality / timeline targets) to customers, suppliers, team members and other cross functional teams as required in various forums.

Educational Requirement

BE Mechanical engineering with 8 or more years of relevant experience in engine industry (or)
ME / MTech Mechanical engineering (specialization in IC engines / engineering design / thermal engineering) with 6 or more years of relevant experience in engine industry (ideal candidate)

Skill Sets/Competencies (Must have)

Product knowledge of core engine components like 5C components, Bearings, Dampers, Gears and major forgings and castings.
Experience of New Product Introduction (NPI) (Concept to Production) and Value analysis / Value engineering techniques.
Able to design components as per reliability / durability requirements and with manufacturing feasibility.
Strong knowledge of virtual analysis tools and GD & T to apply as required.
Knowledge on Data extraction, regression analysis and problem solving.
Excellent Project Management, verbal / written communication, and interpersonal skills.

5+ years of Core engine component design and development by working with global and regional teams.
Experience in working with regional suppliers for core engine component development
Good knowledge of cross functional roles in domains such as Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, related to engines.
