Associate, Front Line Monitoring

The Role Responsibilities
Member of the Front Line Monitoring (FLM) team with a primary focus on supporting the team, admin and control monitoring to ensure robust, consistent, and sustainable assessment of controls are executed in line with Operational Risk Framework. The FLM team monitor the Bank’s response to its best execution obligations and treating clients fairly. The FLM team enable the business to generate revenue in a compliant manner by (i) alerting, (ii) advising and (iii) assisting supervisors in relation to their best execution responsibilities.

Strategy

Support the wider FLM team in its mandate to act as the 1st line of defence in monitoring best execution and front line controls
Understand existing control monitoring, look to increase the scope and quality of monitoring
Continue to stay up to date with internal/external policies and principle based guidelines with specific focus on OEP’s
Highlight and document to FLM management where systemic/systematic issues become evident that may affect our ability to discharge our best execution obligations
Continually assist in evaluating risks and identify gaps in control monitoring process – prioritising high risk items
Actively seek to ensure that the business in general upholds it’s treating customers fairly agenda for FM

Business

Work towards achieving goals as per agreed P3 performance document

Processes

Monitor controls related to Order receipt recording / execution by executing control sample tests across all FM products
Runs monitoring for Sales Trader Workflow and produce MI for the product level management groups
Be proficient in using trade processing systems, order management and recording systems
Identify, report and escalate failures in processes and material breaches to controls
Follow up on the completion of the remediation plans of identified gaps and weaknesses of processes and controls arising from CST/KCI monitoring and other internal/external reviews
Risk assessment coordination: Highlight risks to management and actively monitor control exceptions and improvement actions to reduce the likelihood of occurrence
M7 data management: Support Global Process Owner across the operational risk framework and the process universe record maintenance in M7 for Best Execution
Assist the team to enter the results of the KCI and CST in M7
Pool MI from necessary stakeholders and produce the packs for the commodities, rates, credit and FX management groups.
Ensure all necessary documentation and MI are completed and updated where necessary with detailed statistics maintained

Risk Management

Assist in developing effective control standards and to ensure they are tested (CST’s)
Challenge accepted norms, entrenched processes and common behaviours to ensure that SCB is best in class in relation to best execution and treating customers fairly

Governance

Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
Maintain a forward-looking view of emerging regulation – notably in relation to best ex controls and ensure future proofing of MI
Regulatory & Business Conduct

Display exemplary conduct and live by the group’s values and code of conduct (role model the values)
Drive our objectives in helping FM to achieve the highest standards and outcomes in relation to best execution and treating customers fairly

Our Ideal Candidate

Basic knowledge of Financial Markets products
Strong analytical skills, detail-focused with the ability to interpret large volume of information
Keen eye for detail with the ability to multitask, prioritise, and meet deadlines
Knowledge of Bloomberg, Reuters, Murex v2.11 and v3.1 preferable
Proficient in Microsoft Office
