Job Description General Electric Careers Mechanical Engineer Job Vacancies for Research Engineer Thermal Management in November 2020:
As a Research Engineer – Thermal Management, you will provide technical solutions to diverse range of problems in the area of advanced thermal systems with minimal guidance. Systems include thermal management of a variety of state-of-the art components which cater to multiple businesses of GE including Aviation, Power, Renewables and Healthcare. You will deliver novel solutions for complex, multi-disciplinary problems.
Job Description
As a Research engineer, you will:
Apply your knowledge in energy/thermal management systems to develop creative solutions to control thermal loads in complex systems such as aircraft engines, wind turbines, and medical devices.
Assesses multiple approaches to solve technical problems, solicits inputs, clearly explain proposed solution and execute it
Simulate, analyze, and design advanced thermal and Heat Transfer systems
Cognizant of business impact and learns GE business structure and products
Design and implement thermal management solutions for electrical components & systems
Collaborate with both GE product engineers and with GE Global Research team members on technical projects
Deliver on technical projects with set timelines with minimal mentorship to meet technical requirements and assure proper documentation of the same
Required Qualifications
Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or related field or a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 4 years of research industry experience
Fundamental knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics applied to thermal management problems
Experience in using commercial software (ANSYS, CFX, Fluent, ICEPACK) for heat transfer
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new, unfamiliar technology areas and to abstract system level concepts
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal mentorship and in a team environment
Desired Characteristics
PhD or M.Tech in area of Thermal & Heat Transfer Engineering
Strong record of publications and patents
Understanding of wide concepts and designs of heat exchangers
Knowledge of numerical techniques used in heat transfer domain
Experience in using commercial software (ANSYS, CFX, Fluent, ICEPACK) for heat transfer
Experience in using system level tools such as GTPower, Thermoflow, Aspen HYSYS.
Experience in advanced real-time research, design & development of heat exchangers modelling and simulations, including conjugate heat transfer
Strong command in programming using MATLAB and Python. Exposure to ForTran, C, C++ desired
