Did Jesus say he was God?

Tags: jesus

The simple answer is YES. To prove this, let us first view some of the qualities God possesses and see whether Jesus fits the description of a divine being.

God is:
1) Eternal
2) The final judge
4) Sinless
5) The answer to our prayers
6) All-knowing
7) Omnipresent.
8) Raises the dead

Jesus is:
1) Eternal: In John 8:58 Jesus said that he existed before Abraham was born. ( Abraham lived thousands of years before Christ). He also said that he existed before the world began, John 17:5.

2) The final Judge: In Matthew 25:31-46 Jesus said that HE WILL JUDGE the world on the final day.

3) Sinless: In John 8:29 Jesus said that he ALWAYS does the things that please God ( This includes
following the moral law perfectly). Also in John 8:46 Jesus asked who can prove him guilty of sin?

4) The forgiver of sins: In Mark 2:1-12 Jesus forgives a man of his sins. The religious leaders were furious seeing as only God can forgive sins.

5) The answer to our prayers: In John 14:13 Jesus said that whatever you ask in his name that HE WILL DO IT FOR YOU.

6) All-knowing: In Matthew 12:25, Luke 5:22 and 6:8, we see that Jesus knows our thoughts. Also in John 1:42, upon the FIRST meeting Jesus had with Simon, he knew about his family life ( He knew who his father was).

7) Omnipresent: In John 1:47, Jesus saw Nathaniel under the fig tree. This would be impossible seeing as Nathaniel was nowhere near Christ until he came to him. Even Nathaniel realized this happened due to his omnipresence and therefore called him the Son of God and the King of Israel.

8) Raises the dead: In John 5:21 Jesus said that he will raise from death whom he pleases. Also in John 6:40 Jesus said that HE WILL RAISE MEN UP ON THE LAST DAY.

John 10:30-33
30 I and the Father are one.”
31 Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, 32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”
33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”
