When we look at the world today, there seems to be an increase of numbers in the belief in religious universalism. What this is the belief that all religions are just different paths towards the same destination. Many have even went as far as to say that Jesus taught these very same things. But the question is, what do the gospels have to say? Did Christ really teach that God opens the doors of heaven to all faiths and ways? Or has the world been lied to?

1) Matthew 21:33-46. By using the parable of the tenants, Jesus is describing the action throughout history of God sending prophets into the world who were horribly mistreated by the people. He then goes on to say that LAST OF ALL he sent his son ( Jesus Christ). By carefully using these words, Jesus tells us that he is the FINAL being to come into the world who takes on a prophetic role. This rejects any post-Christian religion such as Islam which says that Muhammad is the last and final messenger who came after Christ.

2) John 10:8.When Jesus begins telling the people that he is the door of the sheep pen, he then goes on to inform us that everyone who came before him were thieves and robbers. This saying does not reject the old testament prophets, but rather stands against false prophets who stood in disharmony with the ways of God's true religion and messengers. An example of such pre-christian religions can be Hinduism or Buddhism which came to birth before Christianity.

3) Matthew 1. Before the virgin birth of the saviour, the angel Gabriel tells Joseph that the son who lies within Mary should be called Jesus because he will save HIS PEOPLE from their sins. What we see is that Jesus will ONLY save those who are followers of HIM. This does not include the followers of Muhammad, the Buddha, Krishna and lao tze.
