One of the main reasons why people do not believe in the divinity of Christ is because the gospels draw him as someone who's life indeed had an end. The question which arises is how can God die, seeing as he cant even be created? And if his existence did in fact come to an end , then who was running the world? Such things have guided many individuals away from the belief in Christ's divinity and God nature. But do these actually hold any water?
The first thing we have to find out is WHAT exactly died? In John 2:19, Jesus told the religious leaders to tear down this temple and he will raise it up again in 3 days. John then goes on to clarify that the temple Jesus was talking about was his BODY. In other words, what died on the day of the crucifixion was not Christ's true being ( his spirit or soul) but his body. He did not cease to exist.
The second thing we have to realize is found within the SAME passage itself. Notice that Jesus said HE will raise up his body on the 3rd day. So the question arises: How can Jesus raise anything up if he is dead? How can Jesus do ANYTHING if he has stopped existing? Just the fact that it is JESUS who will raise his own body shows us that the death of his body was not the death or end of his existence.He forever lives.
