How can Jesus be God if he prayed?

There are 2 answers to this question.

1) The simple answer to this question would be that Jesus was both MAN AND GOD. But let us further examine the gospels and see what they are really trying to say.

According to the gospels, the word pray (in the kjv) has different definitions depending on the context and who it is being used by. In luke 14:18 the word pray is directed by one human to another, both being of the SAME nature. In other words, the definition of the word pray does not have to be limited to a communication between a being of a GREATER nature with a being of a LOWER one. Seeing as Jesus told us that he was indeed divine http://easy-christian-answers.blogspot.ca/2016/07/did-jesus-say-he-was-god.html ,the word pray when used by Christ is a simple communication between 2 beings of the SAME essence. A communication between him and the Father.

According to MERRIAM-WEBSTER'S dictionary, pray means:

: to speak to God especially in order to give thanks or to ask for something
: to hope or wish very much for something to happen
: to seriously ask (someone) to do something

"Pray" does not always have to mean a communication between God and man.

2) One of the intentions of Christ was to serve as an example for the people to Follow. Hence, when we read the gospels, we constantly run into actions which Christ performs which we wouldn’t expect God to do, but he STILL did them AS AN EXAMPLE FOR US TO FOLLOW. This can be seen in John 13:12-14.

In other words, IF ALMIGHTY GOD IS WILLING TO HUMBLE HIMSELF IN PRAYER, THEN ALL THE MORE SHOULD WE. Jesus praying to the father served more as an example for humanity to mirror and follow rather than his need for prayer.

To conclude this post, I will leave you with a question: Why would Jesus pray to God in the sense that he was ONLY a human being and a prophet when he is the very one who has the ability to ANSWER PRAYERS in John 14:13?
