Unemployment in India

The unemployment rate in our country has been rising steadily over the year and it was even more aggravated due to Covid-19 pandemic on recruitment process drives. In 2021 the employment rate was 25.5% for the age group of 15 to 29.. There is double digit unemployment rate as per the Periodic Labour Force survey that covered over 22 states.

As according to the statistics provided by the World-Economic Forum , Out of 13 million people who joins workplace each year One in four management people, One in five engineers and One in ten graduates are employable.Digitization and upskilling are the two powerful tools that empowers the workforce and also keeping up with new booming sectors in industry.

India needs 2.7 million skilled professionals by 2023. Out of 4 million jobs posted 35% of postings are for entry-level positions asked for relevant years of work experience.Over 53% of people confessed that they are unable to find the job of their choice.and 60% of people are not earning.

In order to solve employability crisis we need more internships, Industry real time live projects mentoring and working experience, AR/VR based skills and shop floor experiences,Expert career sessions . Along with this we need to focus on infrastructure challenges like we need more skill labs, science labs, incubators etc...

Only 3.84% of engineers in India have the Technical, Cognitive and linguistic skills required for job opportunity and 3% have new-age technological skills in the latest booming trends like Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Mobile development.Only 1.7%  have skills required for new age booming technology jobs. 40% of students do internship and mere 7% students do multiple internships.

The subject is taught in theoretical manner in colleges and so students don't have practical application knowledge. This is the main reason for low employability of engineers in India. In colleges 60% faculty doesn't talk about real-time application concepts in the Industry and only 47% of students are willing to attend Industry talks and happenings

The number of engineers in US who knows programming (how to write compatible code)  is almost four times than engineers in India. The Engineers show better performance in programming (how to write compatible code) is almost three times better than engineers in China.
