Role of Universities in making Young professionals employable

Over the past few years most of the people has undergone the different phases of under employment and unemployment despite of holding various UG and PG degrees. Their degrees are helpless and moreover they are unable to navigate away from these phases.

Integrating Employablity with Education

The Education sector in India has seen tremendous growth in many fields over the few years. Unfortunately the overall employability is declining very fast This raises several questions on Job readiness.

It is very much essential to address the importance of universities in preparing the students for the job market that bridges the academic gap and job employment. Job market is now reshaping by automation means.     

As according to report the students enrollment for higher education studies has witnessed a huge jump of 11.4 percent during these five years.There is an increase of 18.2 percent in female enrollment also for various education programs. All these numbers look impressive but still unemployment continues to hit.

There is a clear skill gap between knowledge acquire in the class and requirements of organization. The academic curriculum doesn't meet the latest demands of the market. This limits Colleges are focusing more on foundational knowledge and discipline specific skills to students. Knowledge acquired is not put to practical use which limits students chances to achieve their dream job.

Covid-19 Pandemic has become an accelerator for the widespread of digital transformation and  technology in every field. During this pandemic period many people lost their jobs as they are unable to adapt to fast-paced technology changes. 

Post Pandemic has altered the human machine technology relationship and has generated a need for workspace in many fields.with different skill sets.  Universities play a key role in building digital competencies by keeping the latest curriculum with Multi Disciplinary Skills that meets the demands of industry and also equip students with ample job opportunities. The practical,  skilled based teaching knowledge helps students to apply their learning in real-world challenges. 

Introducing Multi disciplinary skills helps students to apply multiple career paths with a secure job. It helps students to equip with plethora of skills.Universities need to make students aware of workplace environment and its expectations which can be possible through Internship programs. Now a days Most of the universities have made it mandatory for students during their last semester. 

Students will learn lot of things through internship programs, They will learn behavioral expectations and also about the job nature in an organization. By communicating with the colleagues and seniors will help to gain knowledge. It also provides them to see how they perform real-time tasks and how they are responsible for their work and actions. It is a great opportunity for students to know how an organization operates. Inviting real time experts to colleges will also help students to get clarity on how to prepare and mould themselves for future..

Universities helps students in developing advanced technical skills of their interest in high tech job roles that follows local and global trends.Universities need to take initiative to inform students about various job roles that can align with their respective courses. They can also guide students in developing a diverse portfolio to present themselves as a right candidate for the job. Students need to be educated, trained and skilled as according to the current market trends that can fully utilize their skills.
