Summary
If You Had Your Birthday Party on the Moon is about a child who wanted nothing more then to have a party on the moon. The child starts by talking about his ride to the moon and what it would feel like. When he lands on the moon, the child talks bout the views and why the moon is what it is. For example due to the lack of wind, we can see footprints from the very first walk on the moon. There are also some games that would not work well on the moon, like freeze dance. When the party is over, it’s up to your friend to throw the next party on the moon.
Pros
I thought If You Had Your Birthday Party on the Moon was well written. While the main story was about a party, he author mixed in so many detail and facts, it turned out to be an educational experience for children.
I also thought it was amazing how the book included additional fact boxes. For children who wanted to learn more, this book gave them the learning opportunity to do so.
For parents, the book ended with some additional resources. A great way to continue space exploration without having to weed out all the books at your local library.
Activity
Pick another planet and do some additional research. Have your child plan what his birthday would be like on that planet. It would be interesting to see which games would work and which would not.

If You Had Your Birthday Party on the Moon is a great find. I am happy with the combination of reality and fiction. The children love the story and learning a thing or two as we read. A winner in my book.
