A while back I wrote a blog post on Summer Reading Tips and Games. While all of the tips are great for Children, I though I would do a follow up post with some of my favorite books.

The Flower Workshop
This book is great because it takes you and your family out of your home and into the community. It helps you look at nature in a whole new way along with giving some amazing ideas of what to do with your new nature. I would encourage you to take this book on a nature hike and see what you and your family can create.
Bizz and Buzz Make Honey Buns
So many children, and adults, are scared of bees. Instead of shying away from them, this books turns them into the main characters. Here children will see how two friendly bees explore the English language. If you have a themed unit during the late spring and summer months, this book would make a great addition as well.
Where Birdie Lives
This adorable interactive book is about a dog who wants to find out where birdie lives. Out in nature, he searches all around until he finds his answer. This book is filled with so many lift the flap, nature inspired, illustrations.
Unusual Animals
Not something children see everyday, this book introduces children to some new animals. Since the nice weather is the perfect time to head to the zoo, this book would be nice to read in the car ride there. So many new animals, you never know what your children will recognize.
Plant to Seed
Now more then ever is the best time to turn to nature and explore what it has to offer. Of course with all the beauty comes some science. This book will introduce your children to the life cycle of a plant with many interesting facts along the way.
The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Vacation
I had to finish this post with one of my favorite books as a child. See what happens when the Berenstain Bear family heads off on a family vacation. I am sure we can all relate to this story on some level.
