Book Summary

Three students, Tad, Max, and Gina are students from Longfellow Middle School in Falls Church, Virgina. They are along way from home touring Italy on a school trip. The trip had been super educational. Wanting to enhance the journey their teacher, Dr. Kastleboro, sees a Leonardo da Vinci reenacor and invites him to take the kids on a tour of the city.

Insisting he is the legit Da Vinci, the children are faced with an issue, is he telling the truth or a good actor. Dr. Kastleboro, on the other hand feels this man is an imposter; a really good actor and he will play his game until he can catch him to reveal his true self.

Through this Book the reader will be taken on a journey that has everything. On one page the reader will have fun reading about the differences between the Renaissance and on the next, they will be learning about math, few pages later, some comedy is thrown in and back to reality. The combination of reality and imagination is just super entertaining and well put together. By the time children have finished reading Leonardo da Vinci Gets a Do-Over, they will not have realized how much learning about art history, math, renaissance and modern technology they have learned about.

Extra Curricular Assignment

After reading Leonardo da Vinci Gets a Do-Over have your child pick his favorite hero from the past. It can be an artist, explorer, or even a writer. Have your child write a little paper on what he accomplished in his past and how modern technology could have made his life easier. If he were to come back today, what would your hero have done to make our lives better?

If you have a child willing to take on a project, using his new research, try to see if he can solve the problem on hand.

My Overall Opinion

Leonardo da Vinci Gets a Do-Over is an amazing book. While initially written for the artist at hand, children will have an enjoyable read getting to know more about past, present, and future. A great book that will teach your kids many valuable lessons along the way.
