A 'Back-to-School' Letter From Our Principal

Dear Calpac Students and Families,

Happy first day of school! We are so pleased to welcome you to another year at CalPac.  As we move into the 17-18 school year, CalPac is continuing our focus on College and Career Readiness.  We want all students to be prepared for the next steps after High School, whether it’s a two or four-year college, trade school, or the work force.  All students will need a competitive edge at the next level, and we want to prepare our students to be a step ahead of the rest.

Students at CalPac already have an advantage with technology and computer skills, completing their work online.  At CalPac, we’re encouraging writing skills through Cornell Notes, Live Sessions, and even by encouraging appropriate email correspondence.  These skills directly translate to post-secondary experiences, particularly in the work force.  Students will continue to explore College and Career readiness through our newly implemented elective course.  All High School students will explore their interests through this innovative course!

For academic pursuits, CalPac continues to expand our course offerings with a full breadth of Advanced Placement (AP) courses.  AP courses are college level curriculum, but can be taken at the High School Level.  Most students take the AP examination in May, since some colleges will accept passing scores for college credit.  If you’re interested in taking an AP course (or an Honors course), contact your counselor!

To focus on Career Readiness, CalPac is offering introductory courses in a Career Pathway as part of Career Technical Education.  Students can take classes in Business, which could lead to entrepreneurship, management, many other careers in various fields.  Over the next few years, CalPac will increase our offerings in Career Technical Education (CTE) to offer our students the most innovative and relevant education available.

Whatever your goals (or your child’s goals), we encourage you to take full advantage of everything CalPac has to offer.  Join a club, check out our monthly student activities, sign up for tutoring, and talk about your goals with your counselor.  We’re here to help you succeed and give you the tools to be the best version of you when you exit high school!

Here’s to a great year!

Sincerely,

Principal Feher
