JEST Eligibility Criteria 2018 –  Eligibility for All Programmes

Candidates who want to pursue MSc, Ph.D and Integrated/M.Sc./MTech – PhD programmes must check the eligibility criteria.

To qualify the Exam, aspirants mandatorily need to prove his eligibility to take the exam. The Exam convener authorities have set some strict guidelines based on which the applicants know whether they are eligible to appear in the exam or not.

It’s essential for every candidate that he/she must satisfy all the required eligibilities mentioned by the respective participating institutes.

Below we are providing the eligibility criteria for JEST Exam.

1 Ph.D. Programme – Physics M.Sc. in Physics (all participating Institutes).
Masters in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Applied Physics / Photonics and Optics / Electronics / Instrumentation will be considered at Indian Institute of Astrophysics.
M.Sc. in Electronics / Physics / Applied Mathematics / Astronomy will be considered at Inter-University Centre of Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA)
B.Tech or B.E. will be considered at IISc, ICTS-TIFR, NCRA-TIFR, IMSc, IUCAA, JNCASR, TIFR-TCIS, IISER Pune, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, IISER Mohali.
M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, Biophysics or Biochemistry, physics will be considered at SNBNCBS.
B.Tech in Engineering Physics are considered for TIFR.
Engineering Physics or Applied Physics, MSc in Physics will also be considered at IPR.
M.E./ M.Tech in Applied Physics will be considered at NISER.
2 Ph.D Programme –For Theoretical Neuroscience/Computational Biology/Computer Science Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc –M.E./ M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Computer Science and related disciplines, and should be interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science.
Neuroscience at NBRC –M.Sc. (Physics/ Mathematics), B. E/M.C.A./ B.Tech in Computer Science will be eligible
Computational Biology at IMSc –M.E/ M.Sc. / M.Tech. / MCA in Science or any engineering discipline, with good mathematical skills and strong interest in biological problems are eligible.
 3 Integrated M.Sc. / M.Tech – Ph.D Programme. B.Sc. (Physics) will be considered at IMSc.
B.Sc. (Mathematics / Physics) will be considered at SNBNCBS.
B.E. or B.Sc (Physics)/B. Tech in Eng. Phy. , with a minimum of first class marks, will be considered at NISER.
B.Sc. (Mathematics/Physics) / B.Tech. in Electrical / B.E. / Engineering Physics /Instrumentation/ Computer Science and Engineering /Electronics and Communications / Optics and Photonics will be considered in IIA.
B.Sc. (Mathematics /Physics) / B.Tech. / B.E. will be considered for Integrated M.Sc – PhD at Bose Institute.
B.Sc. (Physics) will be considered at IISER-Pune, TIFR-TCIS and NCRA-TIFR, ICTS-TIFR.
4 Integrated Ph.D Programme in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc B.E. /B.Sc. /B.Tech. /M.C.A. in Computer Science or related disciplines and should be interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science.
5 Integrated M.Tech – Ph.D. Programme at IIA M.Sc. (Physics / Applied Physics) / Post-B.Sc. (Hons) in Optoelectronics and Optics / Electronics & Radio Physics.
6 Integrated Ph.D. Programme at IISER. Thiruvananthapuram. B.E. or B. Sc. (Physics) / B. Tech. in any discipline.
7 M.Sc. Programme at HRI. B.E. or B. Sc. (Physics)/B.Tech. degree in any discipline.
Harishchandra Research Institute (HRI) is starting a new M.Sc. programme in Physics from 2017. The Integrated Ph.D. programme in Physics at HRI is discontinued from 2017.

Note – There are many other entrance exams through which aspirants can pursue their Ph.D. But most of the aspirants prefer to take IIT JAM and JEST Exam.

How to Fill Application form for JEST 2018 – Step by Step Procedure!

Aspirants who want to appear in the examination need to know about the complete process to apply online for JEST Exam.

Following are the steps to fill Application form:

 Go to the official website. – https://www.jest.org.in/  Find the notification for JEST 2018 and read it carefully.  Click on the link “Register to appear for the exam  Fill the required details for registration.  After completing your process, you will get a registration ID and password.  Log in to the homepage with your registration ID and Password.  Fill all the required details and upload your scanned documents (Passport Size Photo and Signature) as per specification.  After completion submit your application form.  Application Fee is required to be paid along with the application form. Candidates can submit their fee using Debit/Credit cards and Net-Banking.  After submission of payment, your application procedure will be considered as completed.  After successful fee payment, you must download a hard copy of your JEST Application form.
