Top 5 Questions When Touring Beauty School

Are you ready to start your journey toward a career in the Beauty industry? Beauty School is an amazing place to get you on the right path! Beauty school can teach you the skills you may need to be successful in your career, but it may require some significant investment of time and money on your part.

Because of this, you’ll want to be careful about where you go to school and what you study. Taking a tour of the school or schools you may want to attend is a great way to find out what you may need to know. Before you fill out an application and get enrolled here are a couple of what we consider to be important questions to ask on your beauty school tour!

1. Is the School Accredited?

Accreditation is a professional acknowledgment granted to a school by an independent third party. An accredited school must pass specific standards that have been established for teaching and training potential students. Not every beauty school is accredited and attending an unaccredited school may mean that you are not receiving the highest standard of education. The national standards ensure that you can receive a well-balanced and up-to-date education in the curriculum and style of teaching.

Another important aspect of attending an accredited school means that you may be eligible for federal financial aid*. Without accreditation, you will be solely responsible for ensuring that you are able to pay for school on your own. This can sometimes be a big obstacle to potential students.

At The Studio Academy of Beauty all of our locations are accredited and we are proud of the education you may receive here. We firmly believe that tuition costs shouldn’t prevent you from fulfilling your dreams! Don’t hesitate to ask our wonderful admissions representatives about financing options that you may qualify for!

*Financial aid is only available to those who qualify.

2. What Is Included In the Program?

Most beauty schools offer the most popular courses to potential students. However, they may not teach a specific area of interest that you may want to specialize in. We encourage you to look for a school with the specific program options within the curriculum that you are most interested in. It is also a good idea to ask what a typical class schedule looks like, especially if you are currently working.

We offer many programs for you to choose from so you can follow your passion! These programs vary in length and may offer evening courses. Our programs include:

  • Cosmetology
  • Esthetics
  • Hairstylist
  • Educator

Other schools may have more or less programs and this is something you should definitely a good question for your tour.

3. What are the Requirements to Get Started?

Beauty schools often have certain age and educational requirements students must fulfill prior to acceptance. In Arizona, the minimum age is 16 years and you must have your high school education or equivalent. Schools also have to comply with state requirements, so it can pay off to check those too.

A high school diploma or GED is all that’s required education-wise to enroll at The Studio Academy of Beauty. If you have any particular questions about your circumstances we’re happy to answer them while you are on your tour. You can also visit our “Get Started” page to see our easy step by step process!

4. How Long Does a Program Take to Complete?

Each state has its own requirements for beauty schools and how many hours are needed on a per-program basis. We encourage you to visit our programs page or ask an admissions representative to find out more about how long your desired program may take!

While states require specific hours, each beauty school may require additional time per their discretion. As you tour the beauty school, be sure to ask if they offer full-time, part-time, or evening and weekend classes to fit your schedule. Typically, evening courses are a shorter time commitment, so it may take you longer to complete your training. Every potential student has different circumstances and talking through options with an admissions representative during your tour can help you make the right decision for you!

5. What are the Payment Options?

Beauty school is a commitment and many beauty schools offer financial aid* to students or accept scholarships from third parties to help you cover the costs. You should be ready to face the financial aspects of preparing for your future career. Knowing how much each program costs can help you decide the right course for you and what you can do to ensure you meet your obligations.

At The Studio Academy of Beauty, students who are eligible need to file a Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Each school has its own FAFSA code, and ours is 041529.

Our admissions staff is ready to help you with all your financial aid questions, as this is often the most common questions we get. We’re dedicated to helping you find a solution!

*Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
