Community services and Health Industry Skills council has announced the removal of the following qualifications from the training packages from December 2015.
Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy
Advanced diploma of Homeopathy
Advanced diploma of Nutritional Medicine
Advanced Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine

What does this mean to current students and students planning to Enroll in 2015?

Students can enroll and make use of this window of opportunity to qualify with an industry recognized qualification as long as students remain enrolled by December 2015. This has been confirmed by industry associations. Students may have to complete their courses by a teach out period; the current Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) teach out period is 18 months after the removal date. However we will be proposing ASQA and other relevant bodies extend this time frame to accommodate enrolled students allowing  them to complete and gain their qualifications in a more timely manner.

Meanwhile we ask all students to complete their courses ASAP and get in to the workforce since the degree program can take up to 4 years full time and can cost up to three times the cost that one may incur in an Advanced diploma qualification.

AIHM is exploring alternative options so that students enrolled by December 2015 have a variety of choices including continuing into higher education in this field if they so choose.
