The Do’s and Don’ts of Online Class: A Series – Do Ask For Help

There are going to be moments when the online Learning situation becomes a little much. Maybe it’s the curriculum. Maybe it’s the technology. Maybe it’s a personal situation. Regardless of what it is, your Professor may need to know.

Reaching out to your professor during an online semester might feel harder because you have to go out of your way. You can’t just hang back after Class like you could have during in-person learning. Now, with online learning, you have to email your professor, go to their office hours, set up an appointment, etc. in order to share your concerns.

I will say, however, that it is arguably more important now than ever that you keep your instructors aware of any issues you may be experiencing. Though we will check in, professors may have a harder time perceiving issues our students are facing due to our inability to see you in person and detect body language. You have to be your own advocate this fall, a skill you will need constantly in both your personal and professional life.

Sometimes we just need help. And that’s okay.
