Emergency Technician person is one who assists doctors and nurses in the ER (emergency room) of the health care centers like hospitals and clinics. They are also referred as medical assistants in medical term. Basically, there task is to provide medical care to the patients who have come in the ER.

Emergency technician play an important role in the ER as they help in lessening the burden of doctors and nurses, which eventually allow them to concentrate on other patients, as well. • Draw blood: Usually, before starting with the medications doctors prescribe blood tests. This helps them to know the present condition of the patient. So the drawing of blood task is carried by technician or assistant and not itself by doctor.

• Note vital signs: Besides noting the results of the blood test, an aide also has to take various other vital signs of the patients by conducting EKG, blood pressure tests etc. This helps the doctors and nurses to administer the patients well.

• Wound care: Patients who get minor or major wounds it’s the duty of the medical assistants to take care of them. They would clean the wounds and then apply ointment or bandages to cover the injuries.

• Splints: Sprains/tears or broken bones are common. In regard to this patients need to get splints and this task is performed by the emergency technician.

• Maintain cleanliness in the workspace: Asides this medical technician also needs to maintain cleanliness in the workspace so as to keep hygiene.

Aside all the above mentioned duties there times when emergency technician might have to do some additional duties (billing, keeping records of patients) as well. Subsequently, this would be beneficial for the candidate only as he or she would be preferred first over all the candidates who have just earned ER training.
