SYNTHESIS OF DYE AND TIE-DYEING

APPARATUS--->

Round-bottomed flask, Condenser, Measuring cylinder, conical flask, Glass rod stirrer suction pump, suction funnel, filter paper, capillary tube....

REAGENT--->

1-chloro-2, 4-dinitrobenzenaniline, ethanol, sodium acetate.....

PROCEDURE---->

 3g of 1-Chloro-2, 4-dinitrobenzene was dissolved in a 10cm3 round-bottom flask with 1.5g Aniline, and 25cm3 Ethanol. 7.5g of Sodium Acetate was measured and added to the solution and stirred. The mixture was then heated under reflux for 30 minutes. While still hot, it was filtered hot; the precipitate (a spike-like structure) which is the product was allowed to dry......

YIELD
A small sample
of the product was recrystallized from ethanol and the melting point was determined. With the aid of pestle and molar, small quantity of soap solution and the dye was thoroughly grounded and the mixture was diluted to 50cm with hot water.2g of a bank nylon was added to the dispersion and gently boiled for 60minute, the bank was removed, squeezed, rinsed in water, washed in soap solution and finally rinsed in water and sun dried.

RESULT

Dyed cloth
Undyed cloth
Very stiff
Small stiffness
Negligible Load at break
High load at higher rate before it break
Low Tensile Stress at maximum load
High tensile stress at maximum load
