  • The 27th National Energy Conservation Day is being observed in India today (14th December 2017).
  • This day is observed in India to make people aware about the importance of energy as well as saving or conserving the more energy by using less energy.
  • Important Points to Note :
    • The Energy Conservation Act in India was executed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in the year 2001.
    • The Bureau of Energy Efficiency is a constitutional body which comes under Government of India and helps in the development of policies and strategies in order to reduce the energy use.
  • Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today launched the logo for the Kumbh Mela, which will be organised in Allahabad during January-March 2019. 
    • The logo features temples, saints, rivers, kalash, and the swastik among other elements. 
    • Tagline of Kumbh Mela 2019 : 'Chalo Kumbh chalo-chalo Kumbh chalo'  
    • Important Note : Recently the UNESCO has declared the Kumbh Mela as India’s ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage’.
