Tiffany Smiley Debate:

It's probably the biggest race in the state of Washington tonight, with the general election just over two weeks away, the two candidates vying for one of Washington's two U.S. Senate seats are debating thanks for joining us, the seat is currently held and has Democrat of Goodwill Kristen Patty Murray. she has held it since 1992. her opponent is Republican candidate Tiffany Smiley Polling is her first-ever run for elected office our new Washington poll shows Smiley gaining the position against Murray Murray leads with 49 percent of likely voters saying they would vote for her in compared to 41 for Smiley's 10 percent undecided since our last poll in July, Murray's 18-point lead has now narrowed to just eight points, let's go to Spokane for the second answer, each candidate has two rebuttal opportunities.

Key Debate Issues:

during the debate, if you choose to use one, feel free to pick up one of the cards you have and I'll give you 30 seconds to do it so there's no rebuttal um I reserve the right to ask follow-up questions if necessary Miss Murray won the coin toss to determine the order and she chose to open I also want to mention to both candidates that the monitor that has time has been going in and out but the time is right and it will come back so keep in mind uh so let's start there is no formal opening statement but I want to start by asking a broad question to focused on your experience abroad You have been a senator from Washington for almost 30 years Miss Smiley you said you wanted to be a fresh face for Washington in the US Senate why each of you think you are the best candidate for this position Miss Murray we are off to a good start with you , thank you League of Tiffany Smiley Polling Voters and Speaker's Review for hosting this debate tonight. It was a really tough time.

I understand I grew up in a family with seven kids my dad was a WWII veteran and he ran a small store on Main Street of Bothell we were on tight budgets I understand so I always fight to make sure we have the economy , who has been working for Working Families for the past year and a half. Washington State, you know whether it's getting a VA clinic to the Tri-Cities or making sure Spokane has resources for police and fire. I always listen to the communities here and fight for our families in Washington D.C this is one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime.

Tiffany's Stance on Important Topics:

Tiffany Smiley Polling's rights are on the ballot if you send me back pro-choice Senate I will work to pass my legislation to codify the law our democracy is on the ticket I will fight to protect the right of every American to vote and our economy is on the ballot I will fight to lower costs and make sure your family has a fair shake thank you thank you miss Miley you have 90 seconds yes at 23 I walked into the trauma care unit of my husband in the military Walter Reed Center I had student loan debt I had a car payment and he had tubes coming out of each or every opening in his body he was in a coma and this was my first experience with a bureaucratic government system that my wonderful husband is in audience of us today and thank god I was a nurse because I wasn't afraid to take over and fight for him.

I didn't know if I would meet him dead or alive but I was there and unfortunately that suicide car bomb that he was negotiating with on duty our country in mosul iraq blew up his car and sent shrapnel into both eyes making him blind forever but i knew he still had meaning and i fought for his life freedom and the pursuit of happiness i took over big government and won i went on and became the first blind active duty officer to ever serve our country we served with him for over ten years totally blind and then I knew I had to go back and it was right for everyone else so I joined the VA I took another flight to Walter Reed Army Medical in Washington D.C and I took the VA and we passed meaningful reform for veterans that was so needed so for me it was really in that fight that I knew we had to fight for a lot more I have a record of taking big government and my opponent's victory is not working for Washington DC.

Closing Remarks in Tiffany Smiley's Debate:

She is the epitome of big government Washington State deserves better thanks Miss Smiley We'll start with you since Congress has tried and failed for decades to pass comprehensive immigration reform would you support a bill that increases border security while providing a legal path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, why or why not do you absolutely know this is the case? an important question for the state of Washington because we know that China is pumping fentanyl compounds across our southern border, it's in the state of Washington, it's not just in our homeless camps that I've visited and spent time in, but it's also in our schools and it's killing our kids, one pill is going to kill our kids here in Washington state, it's happening all over Washington state, so I went to the southern border to see it for myself, I talked to the police officers down there and you know what they said that our number one obstacle to solving this problem is in Washington D.C.

I don't know if my opponent, Senator Murray, has ever been down to the southern border, but I went there because I know how important it is to the state of Washington that we secure our border, to which we must stop the flow of fentanyl that is hitting our children and killing our children, every state is a border state we what my recovery and reform agenda calls for to turn crisis into hope for all of washington we can make sure title 42 stays in place make sure our border patrol agents have all the resources that they need to secure our border with technology and resources and you know career politicians like to use immigration as a political wedge when election time comes I will actually go secure our border and make sure there is a path to legal citizenship in our country thank you Ms. Murray.
