UPPSC Syllabus 2023: The official website of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has published the Uppsc Syllabus 2023 simultaneously with the release of the recruitment notification. Annually, the UPSC organizes recruitment exams aimed at shortlisting eligible candidates for a range of Group A and Group B posts. The recruitment examinations to shortlist the applicants involves three stages: prelims, mains and interview. UPPSC Exam Pattern 2023

The UPPSC Exam Pattern 2023 for Prelims and Mains Exam is mentioned below.

UPPSC 2023 PCS Prelims Exam Pattern

UPPSC PCS 2023 Prelims exam will be conducted offline in pen and paper mode. All the questions will be objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The prelims exam will be held in two sessions for Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam pattern of the UPPSC PCS prelims exam is given below.

1. Mode of Examination: Offline
2. Both Papers will be conducted on same day.
3. Type of Questions: Objective Type Questions
4. There will be a negative of 0.44 in Paper-I and 0.66 in Paper-II.

UPPSC 2023 PCS Mains Exam Pattern

The UPPSC Exam Pattern for Mains is given below.

1. Mode of Examination: Offline
2. There will no negative marking in mains examination.
3. As per the latest exam pattern, applicants have to choose any 2 subjects among the following.

UPPSC Syllabus 2023 (Prelims Exam)

The preliminary examination of UPPSC involves two papers, check the detailed syllabus for both Paper-I and Paper-II below.

UPPSC PCS Mains Syllabus

The marks secured in the UPPSC PCS main exam are the deciding factor in the final selection. With the change in the UPPCS exam pattern, the new syllabus of the UPPSC main exam has come into force.

There is a major change in the main exam pattern. UPPSC has introduced two new papers in place of the optional papers. UPPSC has introduced General Studies – V and General Studies – VI papers this year. The paper-wise official UPPSC Mains syllabus is given below

UPPSC Essay Paper Syllabus

The candidates need to write three essays (in about 700 words) in three hours. There will be three sections in the UPPSC Essay question paper and the candidates need to choose one topic from each section. The section-wise syllabus is as follows

• Section A: (1) Literature and Culture. (2) Social sphere. (3) Political sphere.
• Section B: (1) Science, Environment and Technology. (2) Economic Sphere (3) Agriculture, Industry and Trade.
• Section C: (1) National and International Events. (2) Natural Calamities, Earthquake, Deluge, etc. (3) National Development programmes and projects.

UPPSC General Studies Paper I UPPSC PCS Syllabus

• The history of Indian Culture will cover the salient aspects of Art Forms, literature, and Architecture from ancient to modern times.
• Modern Indian History: Significant events, personalities and issues, etc.
• The Freedom Struggle- its various stages and important contributors/contributions from various parts of India.
• Post-independence consolidation and reorganization within India (till 1965 A.D.).
• History of the world including events from the 18th century to the middle of the 20th century.
• Salient features of Indian Society and culture.
• Role of Women in society and women’s organization, population, and associated issues, poverty and developmental issues, urbanization, their problems, and their remedies.
• Meaning of liberalization, privatization, and globalization and their effects on the economy, polity, and social structure.
• Social empowerment, communalism, regionalism & secularism.
• Distribution of major natural resources of the World- Water, Soils, and Forests in reference to South and South-East Asia with special reference to India. Factors responsible for the location of industries (with special reference to India).

UPPSC Syllabus of General Studies II

The list of the topics of GS II are as follows

• Indian Constitution historical underpinnings, evolution, features, amendments, significant provisions and basic structure, Role of Supreme Court in the evolution of basic provisions of Constitution.
• Functions and responsibilities of the Union and the States: issues and challenges pertaining to the federal structure, devolution of powers and finances up to local levels, and challenges therein.
• Role of Finance Commission in Centre-State financial relations.
• Separation of powers, dispute redressal mechanisms, and institutions. Emergence and use of alternative dispute redressal mechanisms.
• Comparison of the Indian constitutional scheme with other major democratic countries.
• Parliament and State legislatures– structure, functioning, the conduct of business, powers and privileges, and concerned issues.

UPPSC PCS General Studies III Syllabus

• GSIII is the most dynamic paper of the UPPSC PCS main exam. Appearing candidates must update their textbooks for the new data released by the government from time to time.
