Exam Pattern for GROUP 1 ALP/Technicians

The Exam pattern for GROUP 1 – ALP/Technicians – The CBT shall have two parts viz. Part A and Part B. Interested candidates can have a brief in the table below.

GROUP 1 : Part A – 

  • Marks scored in Part A will be used for shortlisting candidates, provided they secure the qualifying mark in Part B.
  • Syllabus for Part A includes the following topics:

  • Part A marks will be utilized for the further stages of the recruitment process, but candidates must qualify in Part B to be considered.

GROUP 1 : Part B –

  • Qualifying Mark: 35% (Applicable to all candidates, no relaxation allowed)
  • The qualifying part of the exam will have questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by the Director General of Employment & Training (DGET).
  • Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualifications must appear in the section with questions from their relevant trade.
  • Degree/Diploma holders eligible for ALP posts must choose a trade from the list corresponding to their engineering discipline.
  • Candidates with 10+2 qualifications in Physics and Mathematics are eligible for Tech-III/Tele and Tech-III/Sig posts. They should select the “Physics & Maths” trade; choosing any other trade will disqualify them.
  • Candidates with a Diploma/Degree but without ITI/Act Apprentice qualifications will be considered for the ALP post only. They should choose their trades for Part B of the CBT.
  • Trade syllabus details are available on the DGET website.
  • The relevant trades for various 10+2/diploma/engineering disciplines for the qualifying test are as follows (not mentioned in the provided text).

GROUP 1 – Computer-Based Aptitude Test (Only for candidates who have opted for ALP)

Candidates need a minimum of 42 marks in each test battery to qualify, with no relaxation allowed.

  1. For the post of ALP, candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in Part A of the Second Stage CBT, with 8 times the number of vacancies for each community.
  2. To be eligible for the ALP post, candidates must qualify in each test battery of the Computer Based Aptitude Test (AT).
  3. The ALP merit list will consider 70% weightage from Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weightage from the Computer Based AT.
  4. Candidates can check the RDSO website for details on the Computer Based Aptitude Test.
  5. The selection process will be simplified into 5 points based on candidates’ performance in Part A of CBT and Computer Based AT.
  6. Qualifying the part-B of CBT (for ALP), candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for
    Document verification.

Syllabus for GROUP 1 ALP/Technicians

The Syllabus for GROUP 1 – ALP/Technicians – The CBT shall have two parts viz. Part A and Part B. Interested candidates can have it below.a.

  • Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern, etc.
  •  General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and decision making, Similarities and differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
  • Basic Science and Engineering: The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.
  • General Awareness on Current Affairs in Science and technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.

The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choice and are likely to include questions pertaining to General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control, and Technical abilities for the post. The syllabus for General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, 14 Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control is common for all notified posts under this CEN as detailed below:

  • General Awareness: Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture, and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity, and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments, etc.
  • Physics and Chemistry: Up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus.
  • Basics of Computers and Applications: Architecture of Computers; input and Output devices; Storage devices, Networking, Operating Systems like Windows, Unix, Linux; MS Office; Various data representation; Internet and Email; Websites & Web Browsers; Computer Viruses.
  • Basics of Environment and Pollution Control: Basics of Environment; Adverse effect of environmental pollution and control strategies; Air, water and Noise pollution, their effect and control; Waste Management, Global warming; Acid rain; Ozone depletion.
  • Technical Abilities: For technical abilities, refer to Annexure-VII- A to G of CEN No. 03/2018(wherever applicable).
