Addition and Subtraction of polynomial
At the end of the lesson, you should be able to :
- Evaluate Algebraic expression
- Use correct order of operations to evaluate expressions.
- Simplify numerical expression with exponents and grouping symbols
Evaluating Algebraic Expressions
x + 3 is meaningless until we determine the value or the Number the variable represents. In the given expression, x is the variable and we can substitute any7 number of x. Once a number is substituted for x, then the expression x + 3 becomes a whole number. The process of replacing variables and then simplifying the result is called evaluation. In evaluating expressions the following steps are done.
Substitution – replacing the variable by the given value.
Simplifying – performing the indicated arithmetic following the order of operations (GEMDAS)
