The Full Form of AUTOCAD is‍ Automatic Computer Aided Design. The AutoCAD software application is a type of computer-aided design (CAD) program which has been developed and marketed by Autodesk. In December 1982, AutoCAD was released as a desktop application for microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. CAD programs were predominantly run on mainframes or minicomputers before AutoCAD was introduced, with each user working on a separate terminal. AutoCAD is also available as mobile and web apps. Many professionals use AutoCAD in the industry, including architects, project managers, engineers, graphic designers, and city planners.

AutoCAD is derived from Interact CAD, (also referred to as MicroCAD in early Autodesk documents), a program written by Michael Riddle prior to Autodesk's (then Marinchip Software Partners) formation in 1977

Why Use AutoCAD?

AutoCAD was primarily created for 2D designs. Many designers still prefer AutoCAD for its excellent 2D design capabilities. Autodesk continues to add new features, and today AutoCAD is also capable of 3D design.
