The Silhouette is a professional-grade Rotoscoping Software used in the film, television, and visual effects industries. It designed to make the process of Rotoscoping (the process of manually isolating an object or person in a video clip) faster and more accurate. The Silhouette software is one of the equally important parts of a VFX course.

1. Nuke: Nuke is a node-based compositing software that widely used in the film and television industries. It includes advanced tools for Rotoscoping, tracking, and compositing, as well as support for third-party plug-ins.
2. Mocha Pro: Mocha Pro is a planar tracking and Roto software that used in film, television, and post-production. And then it includes advanced tracking tools and features like the Remove Module, which allows users to remove unwanted objects from a scene.
3. After Effects: After Effects is a widely used compositing software from Adobe that includes advanced tools for motion graphics, visual effects, and compositing. It includes Roto tools, tracking tools, and support for third-party plug-ins.

Silhouette 3D

The must-have system requirements for Silhouette 3D software are:

• Operating System: PC (Windows 7 and higher) or Mac (OS 10.10 to 10.15)
• Stable Internet connection: Required for updates and downloads of design purchasing.
• Minimum 4 GB RAM
• Processor: Intel or AMD Quad-core at 2.5GHz
• Memory: Minimum 4GB of free space
• Graphics: Any that supports OpenGL 1.2
• Network: Any network controller (Wi-Fi or Ethernet)
• USB Port: USB 2.0 or higher Port.

For PCs, and Macs, Silhouette 3D is a desktop-only programme. The iPad, Chromebook, and other tablets and mobile devices are not yet supported.

Versions of Silhouette Software

Basic Edition: The Basic Edition of Silhouette Studio is the cost-free edition. Although the Basic Edition is free, its functionality constrained. The inability to access SVG files with the Basic Edition is, in my opinion, the Basic Edition’s major drawback. I upgraded to the Designer Edition for this reason.

Designer Edition: The premium upgrade, Designer Edition, is one level above Basic. You can open and import SVG files into Silhouette Studio if you have the Designer Edition.

The inability to save a file as SVG is a significant drawback of Designer Edition. It can only saved as a Studio file, which means it cannot sold or shared with other Cricut users. The only way to save an SVG after editing one that has been uploaded is if you have a Silhouette Studio version greater than Designer.

Business Edition: The only software that enables you to save your work as SVG files is Business Edition. In fact you must upgrade to the Business edition if you wish to start from scratch in Silhouette Studio and save your files as SVG files.

What’s New in Silhouette?

New Cryptomatte Support: Designed to effectively manage significant roto projects. ID mattes are given to silhouette layers and forms for file distribution and organisation.

New nodes: Layer and shape data are rendered into separate EXR channels by the Output Multi-Part node, while layer and shape data are shown as various colours by the Cryptomatte node. Compositing software like NUKE or After Effects may receive crypto matte files.

The world’s most advanced rotoscoping tool is Silhouette software. Use B-Spline, Bézier, X-Spline, or Magnetic Freehand forms to make complex masks. Simple tools like changeable per-point edge softening and magnetic reshaping make it possible to produce expressive animations quickly.
