WhatsApp will allow users to report their status

Highlights
  • WhatsApp will bring a new feature for its users.
  • This feature will allow users to report status updates.
  • The company can release this feature in future updates.

New Delhi. WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to Report Status Updates on desktop beta. According to WABetaInfo, the new feature will allow users to report status updates in the menu of the status section. If users spot any suspicious status update that may violate the messaging app terms, they will be able to report it to the moderation team with the new option.

Similar to reporting messages, status updates will be forwarded from the moderation region to the company so they can see if the status has been violated. However, this feature also does not break end-to-end encryption. Neither WhatsApp nor Meta will be able to see the content of these messages and no one can listen to their private calls, but it is important for the company to bring a report option to keep the platform and users safe.

Feature work in progress
The report states that the ability to report status updates is currently under development and will be released in a future update to WhatsApp Desktop Beta. Meanwhile last month, the messaging platform rolled out a new feature for some beta testers that allows users to view profile photos within group chats on a desktop.
