1.Bachelor of Design (BDes):
Bachelor of Design is a four-year undergraduate program that teaches design principles, images and photography. Candidates can take admission in this course through the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). The national level entrance exam is conducted by IIT Bombay and includes visualization and spatial ability, design thinking and social skillskills.
Currently, there are three IITs offering this course, IIT Bombay (37 seats), IIT Hyderabad (20 seats) and IIT Guwahati (56 seats). IIT Delhi will offer BDes course from the next academic year. Apart from this, Indian Institute of Technology, Institute of Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur (66 seats) also offers this course.
Eligibility Criteria- Any candidate who has completed class 12th and is below 24 years of age can appear for the entrance exam for admission in this course.
2 .Master of Design (M.Des):
Master of Design is a two-year postgraduate course specializing in design courses that can also be taken by students with humanities and commerce backgrounds. Interested applicants can take admission in M.Des course in IITs through CEED. At present, there are 6 IITs apart from Indian Institute of Technology Design and Manufacturing Institute, Jabalpur, which offer M.Des course. This course is offered at IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur.
Eligibility Criteria- Any candidate who has completed at least three years degree, diploma or postgraduate course can apply for M.Des. Apart from this, candidates who have qualified GD, Art Diploma program are also eligible to take the CEED exam.
3.MA Specialization :
The two-year postgraduate program of Master of Arts is offered with specializations like Language, Social Work, Political Science, Sociology, Geography, Philosophy and others. The subjects of these courses depend on the specialization chosen by the candidates. At present, there are only three IITs offering these courses, these include IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Madras and IIT Guwahati. Each of moo IITs conducts its own written test and interview process for admission to MA.
4. Master of Business Administration (MBA) :
Candidates seeking admission in MBA can search for management courses offered by many IITs. Admission to these courses is given on the basis of Group Discussion and Personal Interview round after the performance of the candidate in CAT. Currently, MBA programs are offered by eight IITs including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur, IIT Dhanbad, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Jodhpur
