💻 Computer is one of the amazing inventions of modern science. A silent technology revolution has taken place around this device. The waves of this revolution hit Bangladesh. Therefore, the use of computers in this country is becoming more and more widespread, computerized business is expanding. According to the needs of the age, computer education has expanded in this country. Ample opportunities for computer education and training have been created at both the public and private levels. We should be interested in computer education in the light of necessity and reality. Today we cannot even think of national development without the spread of quality computer education.
✳️Introduction to computers:-
The word 'Computer' is derived from the Greek word 'Compute'. The literal meaning of which is - calculator or calculating device. At the beginning of the invention, the computer was used for mathematical and accounting purposes, so it is named computer. But nowadays computers are good at almost everything. This machine can perform a task very quickly and accurately on the basis of logical data provided by humans and provide accurate results.
✳️Computer invention and evolution:-
Although a new invention in computer science, it has a long history behind it. The computer was invented as a result of the contributions of many people over a long period of time. A mass machine that could perform summation was first discovered by Pascal in 1642. Shortly thereafter, in 1671, God Friday invented the first mechanical calculator that could multiply and divide. In this way, after many ups and downs, the computer came into the hands of the British mathematician Charles Babbage and became modern. So Charles Babbage is called the father of modern computer. He was the first to discover the structure of a modern computer in five parts in 1833.
Babbage built computers out of metal parts. But due to the non-production of precision parts at that time, he could not give the complete form of a modern computer. But the computers we use today are built on Babbage's architecture. Charles Babbage's computer architecture has five parts. Namely: store, match, control, input and output.
Finally, in 1944, the world-famous Harvard University and the IBM company jointly developed the electromechanical computer. However, the first full-length computer 'Eniac' was launched on February 15, 1946. Since then, the machine has changed rapidly and received innovations in structure and shape. Along with this, the use of computers also increased.
✳️The computer generation :-
Various types of computers have been invented today. A distinct sequence of structures is called a generation. The computer generation started with the first full-fledged computer Eniac. So far we have got Univac-1, ICS-2900, IBM-640, System – 360, Adsac – 4300 series mainframe models.
✳️Generation Computer:-
A computer is not an invention of an individual. It is the result of numerous discoveries and thoughts of many people over the past one and a half hundred years. Among them the most memorable name is Charles Babbage. He tried to build an automatic-mechanical calculator in Cambridge, England in 1830 AD. By the 1930s, automatic pressing or perforating machines were widely used in large businesses around the world.
✳️Second generation computer:-
Transistors were introduced in second generation computers, their circuits were much smaller than those of the first generation. They require relatively less power to operate. Above all, work came from them very quickly and they became very reliable. The most popular of the second generation computers was the IBM 1401.
✳️Third generation computer:-
Third generation computers have integrated circuits (IC). They are cheaper in terms of price and also far surpass the second generation in terms of reliability. They are much more advanced than the computers of the previous era in terms of working fast and using a wide range of capabilities.
✳️Fourth Generation Computers:-
Its application was seen from 1971 AD. With the help of advanced electronic technology of the new era, it is possible to make them faster and smaller than the computers of the previous era.
✳️Fifth Generation Computer:-
Fifth generation or fifth generation computer technology based on artificial intelligence which is under construction. Its main features are voice recognition and understanding of all languages of the world. Multiple programs can run simultaneously without interruption.
✳️Micro computer:-
Small in microcomputer size. They have been in use since 1970. The biggest advantage of this class of computers is that it is possible to collect them at a very low cost. As a result, their use is increasing at a very fast pace. Microcomputers were found to be widely used in factory automation. In addition, they are light in weight, so they can be easily moved from one place to another.
✳️Computer and its functions:-
A computer is actually a kind of machine brain. A computer has three distinct parts – one: central processing unit, two: input, three; output. The central processing unit handles all the information related to any problem. Input gives instructions containing data and output expresses results containing calculations. All information that computer works with is called program. The special language used to provide information and instructions to the computer is called programming language. And these things together are called computer software. Besides, there is a structure that controls the activity of the computer, called hardware.
The great utility of computers is to perform various tasks with the same computer by changing or combining information and programs. The fact that computers today are surprisingly and reliably associated with all kinds of tasks is due to their special features. For example:
1) Extremely fast calculation capability,
2) The ability to hold large amounts of data in a coherent manner in the machine brain,
3) Accurate data analysis capabilities,
4) Ability to work with data and programs......
✳️Computer in Bangladesh:-
The journey of computers in Bangladesh began in 1964 with the importation of an IBM – 1620 series computer by the Atomic Energy Commission. Till the eighties there was no opportunity for computer education in this country. Computer education started formally and institutionally in this country from the beginning of the nineties. Although the arrival of computers in our country through foreign companies has now expanded greatly. Institutional computer education in Bangladesh began in 1984 with the establishment of Computer Science and Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. Computer education was included in the curriculum at the higher secondary level in 1991 and from 1994 at the secondary level.
✳️Computers and modern life:-
Computers are absolutely dependent on people in the modern era. By summing billions of numbers and handing them over to the authorities in a very short time, the cashier can make sure that he is at home. Computers are now planning and controlling production in large factories, calculating profit and loss. Railways, Airlines, Bank Research Centers, Insurance etc. are dominated by computers. Revealing test results, finding criminals, collecting information from old case documents, advertising, all these are now being done by the machine-brain created by man.

With the help of the Internet, any information is being exchanged from home to anywhere in the world instantly. Computer is so essential in modern life. For the same reason, the contribution of computers to civilization is undeniable. Computer usage has become popular in Bangladesh as well. Computers are now mainly used in the printing industry, bank-offices and educational institutions in this country.
✳️Use of computer in modern life:-
Computer and science are the same story. complement each other. Computer performance has increased in step with the excellence of science. Along with that, the use of computers has increased. There is no field in modern life where computers are used. Mentioned below are some uses of computer.
✳️Computers in business:-
Computers are used in almost every business today. Computers are being used in business organizations for keeping accounts, employee accounts, preparing financial reports, product accounts and many more. Using the Internet on computers, it is becoming possible to quickly communicate and exchange files with employees and even with businesses outside the country through e-mail.
✳️Computers in education:-
As in almost every chapter in our lives, the national backbone of the education sector is the absence of computers. At present teaching is going on at home through digital medium using internet. Not only that, computers are being used in many ways in education. For example:

A movie or a film based on that story makes a lot more sense in people's mind than reading or listening to a story. All its possibilities can be utilized in teaching or learning with the help of computer. In the lower classes, if caste identity, stories, history etc. are presented through cartoons, it is very heartwarming for young students. Even in the upper classes, science, geography, history etc. can be taught by displaying colorful pictures. It goes without saying that teaching through computers is more effective than conventional teaching methods.

A simple and important repository of data storage is the computer. Any information can be stored securely on a computer. Computers capable of retrieving any information can be arranged as desired. The security of any information stored confidentially in computer memory is fully guaranteed. Computers are being considered as novel ways of data storage day by day due to technological advancements. As a result, its usefulness is gradually increasing.

Today the world is at the fingertips of people thanks to the amazing success of computers. As a result, computers have revolutionized the field of communication. Through the computer, a student can easily communicate with any other teacher, student or any modern library in the world. As a result, he is getting the expected information or news at home. Various important information features displayed on various websites can be easily utilized by a student for the benefit of computer.
✳️Generating and evaluating test results:-
At present, the important functions of the education system in the country are completely computer dependent. Computer is responsible for checking exam papers, generating and publishing results. In this case, the grading system has been introduced in the country to evaluate the results by trusting the computer system. And performing this complex task cannot be imagined without a computer.
✳️Computers in Higher Education:-
Computers are widely used in higher education in many countries of the world including various universities, medical colleges and BUET of Bangladesh.
✳️In news broadcasting and publishing:-
The contribution of computer in news dissemination and publishing which is considered as one of the means of education is undeniable. Computers are widely used today in daily picture news broadcasts on TV and in newspaper publications.
✳️Computers in Healthcare:-
The invention of computers has revolutionized healthcare. In the medical field, the difficult task of storing patient information and diagnosing diseases is being done easily by computers. Not only that, the computer can handle lab equipment, heart rate monitors, and blood pressure monitors and above all patient monitoring with great precision.
✳️Computers in Government Services:-
Various government departments use computers to improve the quality and efficiency of their services. Examples include city planning, law enforcement, traffic and tourism. Computers can be used for storing information, promoting services, internal and external communication as well as for regular administrative purposes.
✳️Computers in the campaign:-
Computers help make marketing campaigns more effective by analyzing complex data. As a result, it is becoming possible to directly communicate with customers through online chat with product promotions to specific customers in a short time.
✳️Computers in science:-
A scientist is the first person in a team to use computers at work. Computers are being used for data collection, categorization, analysis and storage for research, sharing information with other experts locally and internationally.
✳️Computers in Communication Systems:-
Computers have made real-time communication easier over the Internet thanks to software and video conferencing services like Skype and Zoom. Family members can join each other in video calls. Business partners can hold meetings through video conferencing.
✳️Computers in transportation systems:-
Computer technology is being used to operate road vehicles, trains, planes and ships automatically and safely. Computer is in broader aspects in the case of transportation.
✳️Computers and unemployment:-
As a result of the efforts of scientists, the power of this monster is immense. Their fear is that a time will come when the man-made monster will be made to work, when the mad monster will enslave his creator. The truth becomes clear if you look at the word a little. Widespread use of computers will make people temporarily unemployed. Then instead of being the player of man, man will be the player of the machine. Computers will take away many jobs from humans. The use of computers has already reduced the number of workers in offices, industrial establishments, and various organizations significantly. Of course, on the other hand, computers are also creating many new tasks. Many people are also getting employment in the posts of operator, programmer, hardware engineer etc. Thus in some cases the computer will create temporary unemployment but overall it will also create a lot of employment opportunities.
✳️Adverse reactions to computer use:-
In the modern world as well as human society, some adverse reactions can also be observed in the invention and use of computers. Computers have played a significant role in warfare, weapons development, competition for space, etc. Apart from this, many ugly entertainment systems have been created through computer-generated internet, video games etc. Computers sometimes make people addicted. Moreover, sitting in front of the computer for a long time is harmful to health. Excessive computer use can cause eye damage, headaches and other physical symptoms.

Today's world is full of computer activities. Today it is no longer impossible to imagine that computers may be able to work faster in the future. Perhaps more can be relied upon. In the future, computer programming will surely be simpler and can be communicated not only through instructions in a language like English, but also through verbal instructions. Like other countries, the use of computers is increasing day by day in our country. The use of computers will increase in the near future. More and more people will benefit from this wonderful invention of science using computer technology.
