Creating a Productive and Ergonomic Workspace for Focus and Inspiration

Introduction

There’s nothing more frustrating than being in a Productive slump. Your mind is fuzzy, your energy is low, and you can’t seem to get anything done. While there are many reasons that might cause this sort of funkiness (including not getting enough sleep or eating properly), one way to counteract these feelings is by creating an ergonomic workspace that helps you find Focus and inspiration.

Identify your most productive hours.

Once you’ve acknowledged your preferences, it’s important to identify the hours when you’re at your best. Do you work better in the morning or afternoon? At home or in an office? How do you feel about music—do you need it to get into a productive state of mind, or is silence more conducive to focus? These questions will help guide decisions about when and where to work best.

Paint the walls a soothing color.

Next, paint your walls. This may seem like an unnecessary step, but it’s not! Painting your walls in a soothing color can help with productivity and focus. Studies have found that blue is a great color for productivity and focus, so consider painting your walls a calming shade of blue or green. Paint the wall behind you in a lighter color than the wall in front of you. That way when you look up while working at the computer screen, it will appear as though there is more space around you than there actually is!

If this isn’t an option for whatever reason (too expensive), another option would be to put some sort of wallpaper on one side of the room—something like bamboo shrubbery or tropical ferns could be very nice if done well enough! Just don’t go too crazy with bright colors; they might distract from what’s important when trying to work efficiently: getting stuff done quickly without getting distracted by something else entirely different from what needs attention first before moving on again later once everything else has been dealt with successfully too.”

Add some greenery.

One of the easiest ways to bring some green into your workspace is to add plants. Studies have shown that adding greenery can help reduce stress and improve concentration, which are both essential for a productive day at work. Plants can also help improve air quality, which is important for your health because breathing in polluted air can trigger allergies or other respiratory problems.

And plants don’t just make you more relaxed—they’ve been shown to boost moods and relieve stress too! If you spend most of your time indoors, the benefits of plants become even more obvious: they filter indoor air pollution from things like paints and cleaning products, keeping it fresh for you (and everyone else) so you can breathe easy all day long!

Did we mention that adding greenery also helps keep the temperature down? Because plants absorb heat as well as give off oxygen at night, they’ll keep your space feeling cool without any extra effort on your part!

Establish a routine/schedule.

It’s important to establish a routine and schedule. This is particularly true if you work from home, but even if you’re in an office, having a plan can help keep distractions at bay.

Once you’ve gathered all the information mentioned above (what you want to achieve, how long it will take, how much time you have available), use that information to create a calendar or timeline for your project. This way, your tasks are broken down into manageable chunks of time and can be scheduled when they need to be done most efficiently.

Add some cool accent pieces to inspire you.

Add some cool accent pieces to inspire you.

If you’re looking for a way to add some personality to your workspace, one of the best ways is by adding a few personal touches. These can be anything from art or photographs that remind you of past experiences or even just things that make a particular room feel more like “your space.”

For example, if your favorite color is red and it helps motivate and inspire you when working, consider using this color in one of your accent pieces. You could also use an image of something that reminds you of home—or another place where inspiration comes easily—to help keep yourself focused on being able to get things done during work hours without distraction!

Another option would be using materials that are soft or smooth while still giving off a bit of texture (like velvet). This might not only help keep focus but also reduce stress because it feels good on our eyes too!

Use proper lighting and minimize shadows.

  • Use proper lighting. Bright, warm lighting can help create a cozy and inviting space where you feel more comfortable working. This might mean using more than one lamp to create a brighter area in your workspace. You may also want to use natural light as much as possible, if you can’t block out all the shadows that come with that.

  • Minimize shadows from computer monitors and other electronics. If there are any dark areas on your desk or nearby surfaces (like an office chair), they should be eliminated or covered up with bright colors so they don’t distract or make things difficult for you when working on tasks such as reading documents or surfing the internet while at work!

  • Position furniture to avoid shadowing yourself off during the day by others who might be sitting right next to each other in their cubicles like we did last week when our project became due unexpectedly fast which means everyone had to stay late until everyone had finished theirs but not me because I didn’t have enough time left before leaving for home so now here I am writing this blog post instead of doing anything else productive today except maybe cooking dinner later tonight once I get home from work.”

Add some soothing music to help you relax.

When you’re working and want to get into a productive zone, it’s important to be relaxed and focused. Listening to music can help you relax, focus and be more productive. Music can also help you feel inspired when your creative juices are flowing!

It’s important that the music you listen to inspires YOU instead of others around you, such as coworkers or roommates who might be offended by certain genres (i.e., heavy metal). If everyone has headphones on while working in an office environment, it may make it easier for them not to distract each other with their personal taste in music.

When listening through headphones or earbuds:

  • Mute the volume so that no one else can hear what’s playing through your device; this will allow them some privacy as well!

  • Don’t listen at high volumes—it could damage hearing over time by causing permanent hearing loss or tinnitus (ringing in the ears).

Turn off distracting electronic devices.

Next, turn off all electronic devices. That includes your phone, TV, computer, tablet and music player. If you can’t walk away from a device without feeling like your life is falling apart without it (and I don’t know what kind of self-control issues you have), then leave it on but put it in airplane mode so that no one can contact you and no updates come through.

It may seem extreme to shut down everything that makes up the modern world in favor of an hour alone with yourself—but trust me: once you give yourself over completely to this quiet solitude and take the time to focus on what matters most, something amazing will happen. You might just discover your true purpose in life!

Keep a snack on hand that has nutritional substance with energizing properties (i.e., an apple or banana)

There’s nothing worse than feeling hungry, but not having anything to eat nearby. If you’re reaching for a snack to stave off that hunger and boost your energy levels, make it one that has some nutritional substance. This means grabbing something like an apple or banana instead of a bag of chips or candy bar—although those can be tasty when you’re in need of something sweet!

Get outside! Take lots of breaks and spend time outdoors during them.

  • Get outside! Take lots of breaks and spend time outdoors during them.

  • Exercise regularly, but not too much, so you can focus on your work. Don’t forget about staying hydrated and getting enough rest.

  • Wear sunscreen during the day (and consider wearing sunglasses) to protect yourself from harmful UV rays that can damage your eyesight over time. Make sure to cover up in the shade as well if you’re sitting outside for a long period of time—you don’t want to get burned! You may also want to consider applying moisturizer once an hour if it’s very hot or cold out; this will help prevent chapping or cracking skin.

By carefully crafting your workspace, you can optimize its functionality for inspiring passion and focus within yourself, allowing for new levels of productivity, motivation, concentration and innovation.

A productive workspace is one that allows you to focus on the task at hand without distraction, maintaining a positive attitude and fostering inspiration. Achieving this can be tricky in an open office or shared space, but if you create your own designated area where you can control the environment, you’ll be able to boost productivity and creativity no matter where you are.

My technique for creating a productive workspace is detailed here:

  • Create a space for yourself that is separate from others – whether it’s in a corner of your office, at home or somewhere else (check out our post on remote work). Make sure there’s nothing else around except what’s necessary (eg no chair!). This will help keep distractions down while still allowing coworkers/family etc access when they need it

  • Set up ergonomic lighting so natural light isn’t overpowering but still provides enough illumination to read documents clearly without straining eyesight (in addition to computers). Consider getting specialized lamps like these that provide both normal lighting as well as infrared rays which help increase focus

Conclusion

Creating a workspace that’s both functional and inspiring is an art form, one that takes time and creativity. But the results are worth it—and you’ll find yourself more productive, focused and motivated in your work.
