IHC Awarded Mr Puneet Dhawan For Success In Hospitality Industry

Mr. Puneet Dhawan is a gifted Hospitality professional and strategist who has been leading Accor Hotels in India and South Asia for many years. Who Is Puneet Dhawan

Mr. Dhawan is a hospitality executive with over 23 years of experience in the industry. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Operations for India & South Asia at Accor, one of the world’s largest hotel companies. In this role, Puneet is responsible for Accor’s operations across India and South Asia, overseeing a team of more than 4,000 employees. Prior to joining Accor, Puneet was the General Manager of Sofitel Manila in the Philippines. During his time at the Sofitel, Puneet oversaw a $10 million renovation of the property and was named “General Manager of the Year” by Hospitality Management magazine. Puneet has also held positions with Marriott International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Administration/Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Mr. Dhawan has been appointed by Accor as Senior Vice President of Operations for India and South Asia. His appointment took effect on August 1st, 2020, replacing Jean-Michel Cassé, Chief Operating Officer (COO) For India & South Asia, who left for retirement.

Mr. Dhawan has worked for Accor for more than 20 years. During that time, he has held important positions in nations like Australia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, the United Arab Emirates, and the Philippines. He supervised 35 hotels in six nations while serving as Vice President of Operations – Economy & Midscale Brands Accor Middle East, Dubai Regional Office.

He was assigned the role of General Manager Delegate in Bangalore in 2012. Under his direction, the Accor hotels opened Novotel and ibis Bengaluru Techpark, Accor’s first dual property in India, with more than 500 rooms, six restaurants, and bars, and more than 300 staff members.

On July 18, 2022, the International Hospitality Council (IHC) London celebrated International Hospitality Day once more with a renowned award ceremony. The Mumbai International Hospitality Day Awards were held as a celebration of those connected to the hospitality sector. Honors were given to those who have made significant contributions to the hospitality sector through grit, creativity, and ideas. This honor recognizes the labor and dedication of industry professionals who have given their all to reviving the sector following a two-year slump. The International Hospitality Day Awards in Mumbai, according to Dr. Suborno Bose, CEO and Convenor of the International Hospitality Council (IHC), “really reflect the bounce-back of the industry.”

The IHC Best Hospitality Professional Award was given to more than 100 young people in the hospitality industry who work in hotels and other industries. The organizations they work for choosing them based on merit and performance. The IHC Hospitality Leadership Awards were presented as part of a special awards program that recognized the major achievements of industry leaders and trend-setters. “We are here today to celebrate all of these legends’ and entrepreneurs’ fantastic and outstanding accomplishments. We must also express our gratitude to all the industry experts who have helped us during these trying times. We are paying tribute to the industry’s icons and businesspeople who are also its artists. Mr. Puneet Dhawan, in his acceptance address stated “I appreciate IIHM & IHC for this wonderful honour. Receiving this honour is truly humbling. It makes me happy to be a part of this wonderful celebration here because I believe it is crucial to recognise and appreciate our achievements. My advice to all the students is that you are actually in a beautiful field that offers you wonderful options, and that the only thing holding you back is your imagination.”
