SSC stenographer Exam Test Series 2023/24

How to register for the SSC stenographer exam online?

  1. Check out the official webpage.
  2. Select the Registration Part Section after that.
  3. Fill out the OTR (One Time Registration) Form after this.
  4. Make care you fill out the form with your personal, professional, and basic information before clicking the submit button.
  5. Then fill out the form and attach your scanned photo, signature, and certificate.
  6. After registration is complete, you will receive an email or a text message with your registration ID and password.
  7. If you are already registered, an OTR form is seldom ever necessary. You may easily log in by providing both the registration address and the password.

Eligibility Criteria:

A. Nationality / Citizenship: A candidate must be either:

(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal, or

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) a person of Indian descent who has moved to India with the purpose of staying there permanently from nations including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam.

B. Maximum Age: 

(a) Stenographer Grade C: 18 to 30 years old.

(c) Stenographer Grade D: 18 to 27 years old.

C. Educational Requirements: Candidates must have completed the 12th grade, or the equivalent, from a Board or University that is recognized.

a) In accordance with a notification from the Ministry of Human Resource Development dated June 10, 2015, which was published in the Indian Gazette, all degrees, diplomas, and certificates conferred by institutions recognized as universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, and institutions of national importance declared by an Act of Parliament and awarded through the open and distance learning mode of education are valid. Such degrees should, however, be acknowledged for the applicable time period when the student received the qualification.

c) According to Part-III(8)(v) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) (Open and Distance Learning) Regulations, 2017, which was published in the official gazette on June 23, 2017, programs in engineering, architecture, medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, and physiotherapy, among other fields, are not permitted to be offered in an open and distance learning format. However, the B. Tech. degree/diploma in Engineering awarded by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to the students who were enrolled up to the academic year 2009–10 shall be treated as valid, where applicable, in accordance with the Honourable Supreme Court Order dated 11–03–2019 in MA No. 3092/2018 in W.P. (C) No. 382/2018 titled Mukul Kumar Sharma & others AICTE and others.

d) All selected candidates must present the necessary certificates, such as mark sheets for all years/12th Standard or equivalent examination/Provisional Certificate, in original form, as proof of having obtained the necessary educational qualification and experience in the relevant field, wherever required, on or before the cut-off date; in the event that they fail to do so, their candidacy will be disqualified.

e) Candidates shall also be assumed to meet the fundamental educational requirement if they can demonstrate, through documentary proof, that their examination score was released on or before the deadline and they were declared successful. It is underlined that by the stipulated date, the School/Board/Institute/University must have announced the results of the required educational qualification. The EQ requirement is not satisfied by the School/Board/Institute/University just processing the results by the cut-off date.

f) Candidates with equal educational credentials must present an appropriate Equivalence Certificate from the competent authorities at the time of document verification. The concerned User Departments, Organizations, or Appointing Authorities will make the final decision regarding the selection of such individuals.

g) Prior to the deadline for receiving online applications, candidates must meet the necessary educational requirements.

Process for SSC stenographer selection 

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Stenographers (Grade C and D) Examination will include a written examination and a stenography Skill test. Details of the selection process are provided below..

SSC Stenographer Selection: The test will include a written exam, a stenography skill test, and the resolution of tie cases.

Selection Method: According to the computer-based exam’s minimum passing scores:

(I) UR: 30%

(II) OBC/EWS: 25%

(III) All Other Categories: 20%

Candidates must specify whether they are applying for stenographer positions in grade C, grade D, or both in the online application form.

A. Written Exam: Only Objective Type, Multiple Choice questions will be included in the written exam. Except for Part III, the questions will be presented in both Hindi and English. The time allotment will be 2 hours for general candidates and 2 hours and 40 minutes for visually impaired candidates. For each incorrect response, 0.25 marks will be deducted from the final score. Only those candidates who receive the minimum passing score on the written exam as set by the commission will be invited to take the skill test.

B. Stenography Skill Test: Candidates will be chosen for the skill test according on how well they did on the written exam. The Commission shall set the qualifying standards in the skill test for the various categories of candidates, and the skill exam will be of a qualifying nature. The Commission’s Regional/Sub Regional Offices or other Centers as the Commission may determine shall host the Skill Test. There is no applicant category that is excluded from taking the skill exam. The Commission will recommend candidates for appointment based on their performance in the Written Examination after they pass the skill test.
