IPS D Roopa also known as Roopa Divakar Moudgil is an IPS officer. She is the first woman Indian Police Service officer in Karnataka. D Roopa IPS Biography

IPS D Roopa was born in Davanagere in the state of Karnataka in the year 1977. She is now 46 years old She was chosen as an IPS officer in the 2000 batch. IPS Roopa rank was AIR 43. IPS Roopa height and weight are 163 cm and 65 kg respectively. D Roopa net worth is somewhere between $900 Million.

D Roopa IPS Education

Roopa wanted to don the khaki uniform since she was in secondary school, especially after seeing Kiran Bedi, her inspiration.

She earned a gold award on her graduation from Kuvempu University in Karnataka and a postgraduate MA in psychology from Bangalore University.

D Roopa began preparing for the Civil Services after finishing her Master’s in Science. She aced the UPSC test on her first attempt. In the year 2000, she was placed 43rd in the UPSC Civil Services Examination and chose the IPS. She was ranked fifth among IPS officers in the 2001 class and was assigned to the Karnataka Cadre. On January 26, 2016, she received the coveted President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Roopa was assigned as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Dharwad region of north Karnataka shortly after completing her training. She was also an SP in the districts of Gadag, Bidar, and lastly Yadgir. In 2007, she was tasked with apprehending then-Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and former Union Minister Uma Bharati in connection with a judicial case in Hubballi.

In 2013, she became the country’s first female police officer to lead the Cyber-Crime section. While she was the DCP of the City Armed Reserve in Bengaluru, she withdrew 216 excess gunmen kept unauthorisedly by 81 politicians, as well as 8 new SUVs from the department that stayed unauthorisedly with an ex-Chief Minister of Karnataka. She claimed that AIADMK (Amma) general secretary V K Sasikala was being treated like a VIP at the Parappana Agrahara central jail. In a report submitted to the Home Department and Director General of Police (DGP) for Prison Department H N Sathyanarayana Rao, Deputy Inspector General (Prisons) Roopa claimed that in exchange for a Rs 2-crore bribe to jail officials, Sasikala was given VIP treatment in jail.

When she was transferred on December 30, 2020, while serving as Karnataka home secretary, she went to Twitter to share her transfer history; she had been transferred over 40 times in 20 years. She organised some drug awareness programmes for students as part of the police’s social role and duty as DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department, heading the economic offences wing.

IPS Roopa Moudgil is the present Managing Director of the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation.

IAS Rohini accused by IPS Roopa

The feud allegedly began when pictures of IAS Rohini seated with Janata Dal-Secular MLA Sa Ra Mahesh in a restaurant went viral. When Ms Sindhuri was appointed in Mysuru in 2021, the two had several public fights accusing each other of corruption.

On Sunday, IPS officer Roopa posted private photos of IAS officer Rohini on her Facebook profile, claiming that IAS Rohini Sindhuri violated service conduct rules by sending her photos to male IAS officers in 2021 and 2022. D Roopa had issued a lengthy list of corruption allegations against IAS Rohini the day before. She claimed that she had also expressed her concerns to Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma. IAS Rohini, on the other hand, claimed that IPS Roopa was waging a false, personal vilification campaign against her and feared action.
