Aatmanirbhara,
In the last newsletter, I shared that I'm scaling things back in the Learning Center while I work on something new. In the meantime, here are some other great resources and opportunities for professional development for leaders of volunteers.
Last month we hosted a webinar on pursuing your CVA. (If you missed it you can find other information session dates on the CCVA website.) The CVA is a professional credential that tests the application of practical knowledge. It's not a course or a class - the exam asks leaders of volunteers to draw on their experience by posing hypothetical volunteer engagement situations. After you pass the exam you can use the CVA designation - Certified in Volunteer Administration. I received my CVA in 2010, and if you're looking for something to show to yourself, or your organization, or the volunteers that you work with that you know what you're doing the CVA might be just the thing!
Some of you might be members of a local DOVIA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies) but not every community or metro area has an active DOVIA. AL!VE - Association of Leaders in Volunteer Engagement - might be good choice for you if you don't have a local group, or if you're looking for an association with a larger scope. AL!VE offers resources for leaders of volunteers as well as additional benefits for members including a mentoring program, leadership development, and communities of practice where members can connect with other leaders of volunteers working in similar impact areas.
If you're looking for something a little more structured a VolunteerPro membership might be just the thing to help you design and implement a successful volunteer engagement strategy! This membership includes modules on volunteer engagement topics, access to the live and recorded content, as well as coaching and access to the Community Forum.
We will still have webinars in the Learning Center for March, and I hope you'll join us for one of those. And, I'll let you know what's coming up soon, so stay tuned!
