Women’s education more than a necessity to some point became an agenda to blabber about, however in some parts of the country it’s a very gross idea now nevertheless some still are on the edge, not only education (it’s just one way to lead them to empowerment) other important aspects like marriage, divorce, childbirth or any social issue for that matter has to be looked on to.

What Is It?

The government of India started the campaign named- Beti Bachao Beti Padhao under this campaign there were and still are many schemes being launched Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna is one of them launched on 18th March 2016 under the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It’s a money deposit scheme meant only for girls to help them with the finances of education and marriage.

Features of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

• Premium starting with RS 250 and then RS 150 respectively only and then with an annual ceiling of RS 150000 in a financial year
• Deposits can be made for a maximum of 15 years from the day account was open
• The different has a 21-year term starting from the date it was opened
• As the Government of India’s notification interest is compounded annually with the option of monthly interest payments based on the sum in thousands
• No taxes on either the amount that would be invested or on the amount that sums up as the interest or the amount to be withdrawn.
• The minimum investment per annum is Rs 1000 & maximum could be up to 1.5 lakh per annum.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Eligibility Criteria

• On behalf of the child, the account can be started by either parent or guardian
• Single account for one child, no dual registration
• The girl shall be below the age of ten years
• One family can have two accounts to avail of the benefits of the scheme

Documents Required

• Birth certificate of the girl
• Parent’s photo ID proof
• Address proof
• PAN card & Voter ID of the parent

How To Register Online in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana?

Step 1: Applicants can download the form from either the website of RBI or India Post or any of the public and private banks offering the scheme

Step 2: Fill up the information needed in the form like:

• Name of the girl child
• Account details
• First deposit amount
• Cheque number and date of the first deposit
• Birth certificate of the girl
• Photo ID of parents or guardians
• Address proof
• PAN and Voter ID

Step 3: Submit the application and at the bank branch you will be Registered.
