19) para –  for

20) hasta – until

21) hacia –  toward

22) durante – during

23) en lugar de –  instead of

24) entre – between

25) por – for ; by

26) fuera de –  outside of

27) frente a –  infront of

28) lejos de –  far

29) sobre –  over ; above ; on ; upon

Spanish Prepositions :

A :

You use a to show

Time  (Te llamaré a las 2 p. m.)     (I will call you at 2 p.m.)

Movement   (Nosotros vamos al mercado)    ( We are going to market)

Speed    (va a 80km por hora)      ( He is going 80km per hour)

Price    (Va a 80 kilómetros por hora)      ( You can buy it for 50 pesos)

De :

Another preposition is de. You use de , which means of , from ,  or about , to show

Origin , possession , subject , relationship , material , cause , characteristics.

En and hasta :

The preposition en can meaning in , on , at or by. The preposition hasta which means until.

Por and para :

Por and para both mean for in English , which is what causes the problem. In Spanish.

Sentences for practice :

1) Ellos caminan por las calles del pueblo.

  • They walk through the village streets.

2) Él duerme por la tarde.

  • He sleeps in the afternoon.

3) Esto es para mi.

  • This is for me.

4) Están viajando en autobús.

  • They are travelling by bus.

5) hasta luego.

  • See you later.
