Elon Musk tweeted on Friday about the upcoming debut of two news levels for the platform’s Premium Subscription plans. Musk stated that the plans would soon be launched, although he provided no specific launch date. The X CEO also said that of the two tiers that will launch, one will be priced at an accessible price point, less expensive than the existing plans, while the second will be more expensive. The less expensive X Premium subscription plan won’t reduce the amount of advertisements, while the more expensive one will remove all adverts from the X account for its users.

According to a recent Bloomberg article, X CEO Linda Yaccarino met with lenders to explore segmenting the X Premium subscription model into tiers that will include a Basic, Standard, and Plus plan. Musk’s announcement is consistent with that claim. The current plan will be referred to as the Standard, and the subscription levels Musk has hinted to will likely be the Basic and the Plus plan. Additionally, as Musk noted, only Plus subscribers will have access to an ad-free version of the X; in contrast, Basic and Standard subscribers would still see advertising on their timelines, albeit with fewer of them than non-subscribers.

X Premium for the desktop app is now available in India for Rs 6,800 for annual plans and Rs 650 for monthly plans. On the other hand, the monthly X Premium subscription plan for the X mobile app costs Rs 900, while the yearly X Premium subscription plan costs Rs 9,400.

The benefits of the current subscription plans include the ability to post longer videos and support for 1080p video uploads, text formatting options in posts, priority rankings in conversations and search, the well-liked edit button, the ability to create bookmark folders, and early access to new features. However, X offers the subscribers “twice as many posts between ads” in the For You & Following timelines, even though the current plans do not make the platform ad-free.
