Without a doubt, this is Rani Mukerji’s strongest on-stage effort to date. She portrays a mother who is anguished and in pain, and to state that she is remarkable is still not enough. The parents engaged the foreign ministry in their fight because they claimed that there was a cultural prejudice towards Indians. The Norwegian government agreed to give custody of two Indian children to their father’s brother so that he could take them back to India following a diplomatic dispute between the two nations.

Unfortunately, the parents’ marriage fell apart in the interim, and the mother turned to the judicial system to obtain custody of her children. This year’s publication of Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway is scheduled for March 17.
