Truth Social, Donald Trump’s social media app, is not approved by Google for the Play Store

Since there are more than 40% of Android users in the US, Trump’s Truth Social app’s failure to be approved on the Play Store almost a year after its introduction is a significant setback.

The Social Media app of former US President Donald Trump is having trouble finding a home in the Play Store. According to Axios, Google is taking its time to approve the Truth Social app on the Play Store despite the fact that it is easily accessible on the Apple App Store due to poor content moderation. Recall that Trump was banned from all social media platforms after being charged with instigating the rioters that attacked the Capitol Hill building in 2021, including Facebook, Twitter, and even Google’s YouTube.

Details about Donald Trump’s Truth Social App Barred by Google:

The failure to receive Play Store approval nearly a year after its release is a significant setback for Trump’s social networking app. About 40% of smartphone users in the US are Android users. If Trump’s social networking app isn’t accessible through stores like the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, customers will practically be unable to use it.

In a statement, Google said that having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a requirement of our terms of service for any app to go live on Google Play. “On August 19, we notified Truth Social of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission,” Google said. The social media app is in violation of some rules, according to the search engine juggernaut.

Trump’s social media company has responded to Google’s accusations by claiming that it has “constantly worked in good faith with Google to ensure that the Truth Social Android App conforms with Google’s regulations without compromising our pledge to be a refuge for free speech. Truth Social has zero tolerance for sexually explicit content, the firm claimed in a press release. “Moreover, several of our competitors’ applications are authorized in the Google Play Store despite flagrantly breaking Google’s prohibition on sexual content and other standards,” the company added.

The free iPhone app with the highest downloads in the App Store at the time was Trump’s Truth social media platform. Interestingly, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, asked Trump to return to Twitter as he prepared to take over the social media platform. Musk opposed Trump’s order and blasted Twitter’s management for doing so. Trump, though, had graciously turned down his invitation.
