STOCK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM COMPLETE PROJECT

CHAPITRE ONE

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The current industrial world is technologically advanced, and global competition is fierce. The HARDWARE and SOFTWARE, the computer’s two sources, are delivered to the user.

The majority of the software will be programmes that allow for the quick automatic Management of computer system resources.

1.1. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

“Stock Management System” is a term that can refer to nearly any Stock-related solution. Because this software package serves as a superb guide for all Stock Management purposes, the present demand for such software has grown.

This project will provide for the computerization of a small business whose primary purpose is to keep track of their inventory and stock process and who wishes to transition from paper-based transactions to computerised transactions.

You require powerful capability for managing your logistics facilities for optimum stock management processes. Support for stock management enables you to register and track commodities based on amount and value.

Internal warehouse movements and storage are covered by stock management services.

We can cut expenses for warehousing, transportation, order fulfilment, and material handling by adopting this programme while increasing customer experience.

You can enhance inventory rotations, optimise goods flow, and shorten paths within your warehouse or distribution centre. Improved cash flow, visibility, and decision making are also advantages of stock management.

This software is user-friendly and thus simple to use.

Employees can plan, enter, and document warehouse and internal stock movements by issuing items, storing goods, picking and packing, physically transferring stock, and posting transfers.

1.2. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Manual systems are time-consuming, inefficient, and inaccurate when compared to computerised systems.

So here are some drawbacks of the previous system:

1. Sluggish data processing

2. A great deal of paperwork

3. Time-consuming

4. Not as precise

5. Less effective

6. A great deal of paperwork

7. Sluggish data processing

8. Uncomfortable working atmosphere

9. Difficulty in retaining historic records

1.3. AIMS OF THE STUDY

The following are the study’s objectives:

1. Create a computer-driven inventory management system.

2. To ensure a complete and accurate record

3. Increasing employee effectiveness

4. To generate a report on each item in stock

5. Keeping track of commodities in terms of quantity

1.4. THE STUDY’S OBJECTIVES

The project is intended to aid with stock control. The following are the primary goals of the new system:

1. Create a computer-driven stock management system for recording and tracking items based on amount and value.

2. Produce reports on all operations

3. Create a central database system that will function as a database and hold information about the entire stock.

1.5. IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY

Among the features of the new computer-driven payroll system will be:

1. Accounting records for a single component or groups of components. All components in the stock management system have service records.

2. Current information about data processing resources via record creation and archiving in a centralised repository.

3. Data used to support configuration diagrams of hardware and software components located in specific places or throughout the data processing environment.

1.6. SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The goal of this system is to provide a user-friendly working environment in which more output can be generated. This system has a user-friendly interface, which allows you to learn about all of the system’s usability characteristics.

This system aids in the tracking of records so that previous records can be validated and decisions can be made based on them.

This system completes the work in a relatively short period of time, resulting in a low time consumption and a high level of efficiency.

This system is designed in such a way that even inexperienced users may simply run it. The computations are performed fast, and the records are instantly saved into databases, which can be kept for an extended period of time. Each record can be retrieved and validated for future transactions.

This solution also provides a high level of security against data leakage because only administrators have access to the database and no changes can be performed until the user login id and password are verified.

The study will be conducted at OGUN STATE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, IGBESA AUDIT DEPARTMENT.

1.7 LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

The following restrictions were faced throughout the design of this project:

1. Financial Constraints: The design was completed, but not without some financial costs. The computer time has to be purchased. The typing and planning of the task also have cost implications.

2. Excellent programming technique: The programming part of this project presented a number of difficult bugs that took us several days to resolve. Database connectivity using PHP and MYSQL databases created numerous issues.

3. A Few Literature Sources: Although the topic appears to be a widespread term, it is not a popular topic to search on the Internet. It has less sources from the literature.

1.8. DEFINITION OF TERMS

1. AUDIT: An official examination of an organization’s accounting, usually conducted by an independent body.

2. STOCK: Goods or items held on the grounds of a store or warehouse and ready for sale or distribution.

3. MANAGEMENT: The act of dealing with or controlling objects or people.

4. SYSTEM: A collection of ideas or processes that govern how something is done; a well-organized programme or approach.

5. PHP: is a free scripting language and interpreter that is primarily used on Linux Web servers. PHP, which was formed from Personal Home Page Tools, is now an abbreviation for PHP: Hypertext Pre-processor, which the PHP FAQ characterises as a “recursive acronym.”

6. MY SQL: is a popular database for usage in web applications and is a key component of the widely used LAMP open-source web application software stack (as well as alternative “AMP” stacks). LAMP stands for “Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP/Python”.
