Philippine Science High School Scholarships (PSHS) 2023/2024 | How to Apply

The scholarship Application for entering Grade 7 students at the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) for 2023-2024 is now open to all qualified Filipino students along with its Requirement for Admission, Criteria, and Evaluation (RACE).

A PSHS scholar also receives a Php 500 monthly stipend in addition to the world-class education that PSHS offers with no charging fees. In addition, living expenses are provided; for a summary of these expenses according to a student’s socio-economic status, see the chart below. Additionally, textbooks are freely given to students.

How to Apply For PSHS Scholarship?

A grade 6 elementary student from a Department of Education-recognized school who satisfies the following criteria is eligible to apply for the PSHS Requirement for Admission, Criteria, and Evaluation (RACE).

  • He/She Must have an 85% or higher final grade in Science and Mathematics, as shown by the student’s report card The student must show proof that he or she is in the top 10% of the class if his or her grades in science or math are below 85%.
  • He/She Must be a citizen of the Philippines and not have an application for immigration to another country pending or accepted
  • He/She Must be under the age of 15 on June 30, 2022 and
  • Have at least an acceptable rating (or its equivalent) in their Character Rating on their report card (SY 2021–2022).
  • Have not previously applied for admission to PSHS and
  • Preferably, be in excellent health and fit to participate in a challenging academic program.

What are the Application requirements?

For walk-in applicants:

  • Recent 1×1 ID pictures.
  • Fully accomplished application form.
  • Certified true copy of report card (SY 2021 – 2022) by the class adviser / principal.
  • If the final grades in Science or Math are below 85%, certification or proof that the child belongs to the upper 10% of the batch.
  • Certification from the private school if the pupil-applicant is on full scholarship.
  • Non-refundable processing fee for private school students – Php 300, based on the applicant’s Grade 5 school / Free for public school students and students with full scholarship from private schools.

For Online Applicants

  • Scanned/Digitized copy of Certified true copy of report card (SY 2021 – 2022) by the class adviser / principal.
  • Scanned/Digitized copy of Proof of Payment (Php 300 for private school students, free for public school students and students with full scholarship from private schools)
  • Scanned/Digitized copy of most recent 1×1 ID pictures
  • Certification from the private school if the pupil-applicant is on full scholarship.
  • Scanned/Digitized copy of certification of proof that the child belongs to the upper 10% of the batch if the final grades in Science or Math are below 85%.

The Race

In lieu of the PSHS National Competitive Examination (NCE) an alternative selection will be used. For the School Year 2022-2023, there is a RACE to be a PISAY scholar.

Requirements for Admission, Criteria and Evaluation (RACE)

  • This new strategy is being implemented to avoid the spread of COVID-19 among the thousands of examinees gathered in test centers around the country.
  • The selecting process will be divided into two sections.
    • The first stage involves determining the applicant’s expected NCE grade (PNG), which is based on Grade 5 final grades in Science and Mathematics.
    • The second step depends on writing abilities through the submission of an essay.
  • Based on their Final Score, applicants will be ranked from highest to lowest.
  • The top 240 candidates are named the PSHS-Main Campus Principal Qualifiers (MC).
  • The Principal Qualifiers of the Regional Campuses are the top 90 or 120 applicants in the regional ranking, depending on the quota of the PSHS campus.

For walk-in applicants:

  • The PSHS NCE Application Form and documents required are not for sale, however they may be photocopied and downloaded using this link. There is no reservation cost.
  • Application forms are also available and can be submitted at PSHS campuses, DOST Regional offices, or Provincial Science and Technology Offices. The application must initial any erasures, modifications, and applicant.
  • If you do not get an email indicating whether your application was granted or denied, you may visit or contact the nearest PSHS Campus, or call the PSHSS-Admissions Office at (02) 8939-PSHS (89397747), or visit www.pshs.edu.ph.

Note: Application forms with missing or incorrect information will not be processed.

For Online Applicants

  • PSHS NCE applicants can also submit their applications online at nce.pshs.edu.ph. Applicants must first register at nce.pshs.edu.ph/signup.
  • To submit an application, the PSHS NCE Applicant must fill out the online application form with the necessary information. In situations where the applicant still has to prepare the needed attachments, he or she will have the option to save it as a drafts first until the required data and relevant papers have been completed. Once submitted, the application is considered final and cannot be changed.
  • To check the status of the applicant’s application, log in to the website and choose Application Result. The applicant will also get an email confirming whether his or her application was granted, refused, or requires more documentation.
  • If you do not get an email indicating whether your application was approved or disapproved, you may visit or contact the nearest PSHS Campus, or telephone the PSHSS-Admissions Office at (02) 8939-PSHS (89397747), or visit www.pshs.edu.ph.
