Lemon Thyme (Thymus citriodorus)

This is not an easy Plant to find!

Be sure you obtain the bushy one – not just a lemon-scented creeping Thyme. It is a hardy perennial, grows 12 inches (30cm) high, has a “softer” growth than the standard garden Thyme, and has paler leaves. It thrives best in light, dry, well-limed soil, and in full sun. It is propagated by cuttings or division of the whole plant, which is dug up and torn apart. Any pieces with roots attached can then be replanted 18 inches (45 cm) apart, burying all the woody stems, and leaving only green leaves above the ground. It can also be layered, but can not be grown from seed.

It is used in cooking and makes an excellent tea.

Buy one plant. You should be able to divide it into three or four plants after one year of growth.

Plant 18 inches (45 cm) apart.
